All I could find is some idle musing on a 49ers fan site. This site was speculating on a wide number of coaches, including bringing Coach K out of retirement. I didn't take any of it too seriously.

Missed this thread when I posted in TOS one. He just lost RayJ, might as well jump while he can.

Pretty mediocre spot for a successful MAC coach to jump to. Though, I guess Kowalczyk is 14 years in at Toledo and not exactly an up and comer. May as well take the money. A long-term deal basically gets you to retirement.

Toledo wasn’t exactly a destination until Kowalczyk arrived. He really built up the program despite not winning a conference tourney title. Pay raise, living upgrade, and likely will have more NIL resources locally. Charlotte moves to the AAC this year, so the draw of a multi-bid league probably helped as well.

On a Bobcat note — chances Wight decommits and reconciles with our staff? Wishful thinking.

Funny...that was my first thought. A guy can dream.

I'm sure Wight follows him to Charlotte.

Tod K is adamantly denying this. Several other similar twitter accounts say he is staying at Toledo.

Seems out of his wheelhouse (a Midwest guy from Wisconsin). But if you can get a better paycheck and have better NIL deals to get recruits, why not? After 3 straight first round NIT exits and no NCAA bids in 13 years, I can't imagine Rocket fans are upset about this.

Some saying yes, some saying no - no one with any credibility saying anything. The UNCC Chancellor did come from Toledo - so there is a connection there.

Hope it is a no. Tod K, Senderhoff, Groce & Boals are quite the group of 4 coaches for our conference.

Honestly I was waiting for *insert random former NBA player* to be included in this conversation and Muggsy was not on the list.

According an article in the Charlotte Observer, the leading candidates are: Chris Mack, late of Xavier and Louisville; Bart Lundy, UW-Milwaukee; and Ben McCollum, Northwest Missouri State (Division II). Not sure if this is based on inside information, or idle speculation.

Naming assistant coach Aaron Fearne as interim head coach for 23-24. Couple of things have a familiar ring. Has interim tag (unlike Albin). But will get it removed/rewarded if he does well. The yappers online are yapping - dumb move, yada, yada, yada -- sound familiar? Very popular move on campus and in program. (Spoiler alert. my son goes there and my next-door neighbor played basketball there). Players lobbied hard for him - want to play for the guy.

Unexpected move, at least by the press that had been following this saga. Thanks for the insider info from someone who has progeny at the school. Interesting to follow this program next season.

If it works, it works. And like you said, if the players are bought in, can keep the program in a good spot and get really good really quick. And as I did with Albin, I hope the yappers eat as much crow as I did on that one
