We must do this for hoops.  We must.

Who's gonna run it?  Who's gonna participate?

Just for fun I have used the following formula as my own personal Bobcat Challenge to give me a dollar amount to shoot for: Assists + Steals - Turnovers= 354 (last year's total)  -

I am not sure I can add this much to my football total so will have to figure something that will work...Then again I might just have to figure out a way to do it.

I might suggest that we keep a game by game and running total of our own and report it on an ongoing thread someway.  I would volunteer to check the thread and keep a spreadsheet to update totals on a (fairly) regular basis. I probably cannot devote time to doing the math for individual pledges.  Certainly open to any suggestions but this is mine.

2nc--Very very happy to have you participating.  Let me know what you decide on.

I'll keep the scorecard (by individual and in total).  I'm inclined to not post personal totals as I don't want anyone to shy away from participating because they think that their pledge is small.  Every bit helps.  Every bit.

For those who are not familiar, here's how it works:  You set categories and amounts that will be earned for achievements in the categories.  (For instance, you might pledge $8 per win and/or $42 for beating BG at BG and/or a dollar for every rebound Reggie grabs during the season, etc--whatever category or categories you want.)  Then, whatever dollar amount you achieve, you send a check in that amount to the Bobcat Club.  We go by the honor system in that we trust that you'll pay up on your pledge, but no one will check up on it or hound you for the payment.

It's a great, exciting way to beneficial to, and part of, the basketball program.

ARE YOU IN?!!

As I would love to do more, I figured this is the best I can do......

$2 per win
$1 per assist by Stevie
$0.10 per point by Walt
$10 per win against Miami
$5 per win against Akron

Is this something you would accept?

20 Assists + 22 Steals - 16 Turnovers = 26 Bobcat Challenge exhibition dollars

The real challenge begins this Saturday.  Because of my Football Challenge and a couple of other obligations I think I should only do this challenge divided in half.   However..here is my actual Basketball Bobcat Challenge:

(Assists + Steals - Turnovers) X 50 cents until 20 wins then it goes to $1 for every game after that.

GO CATS

According to my calculations...105 assists + 73 Steals - 83 turnovers = 95 x .5 = $47.50 so far.

Only 14 more wins for the stakes to go up to 100% of the totals for games after 20 wins...GO CATS!!

The mo-ron who started this thread has been totally remiss in keeping it up.

I'll see if I can get it going again.

And, it's not too late--not at all--to join in re games already played as well as those BIG ONES to come.

Prelim calc shows that participants have achieved about $440.90 to date.

This excludes the Mercyhurst game, which I'll add in soon.

Good job by all who are in.

I question the allegiance of those who don't take this opp to at least participate in some small way for the remaining games of this season.

Up to about $650.30 through Tuesday's Buffalo game.

Remember:  You're participation here comes with the happy obligation to make a contribution to The Bobcat Club in the amount that your sage selections total up to.

The Really Good News:  It's not too late to join!  Choose a category or several--$5 per win from here on out, $3 for every DJ 3ball or whatever--and support your OHIO BOBCAT BASKETBALL.

My pledge is as follows:

 until 20 wins-(assists + steals - turnovers) X .50 = 467 + 233 - 333 = 367 X .5 = $183,50
20th win and after - (ast + st - to) X $1 = 81 + 44 - 53 = $72

total so far = $255.50

Here is looking for a 25 + 10 - 5 game tomorrow.

MariettaCatFanatic--For your 'MAC Championship' note above, are you thinking regular season and/or tournament championship?  Thanks, Monroe

Up to about $679.80 through the end of the regular season.

Do your personal record a favor:  Choose some topics and pledge terms for the post-season.  That way, when we win, you win.

It's only logical.
