It is sad that support for Miami football and basketball is so poor. Amazing what a national power can do for you though. The hockey games are just about the hardest ticket to get in ohio college sports. Certainly when Michigan comes to town there are none available.

Why this thread and this complaining about the incontrovertible facts of the other (non-OHIO) MAC schools is silly, a waste of the good time of everyone who's posting here:

The thread someone put up here about a month ago about why going to OHIO is a smart move.  I think that it was addressed to a high schooler who was trying to choose between redhawk and OHIO.  The unbelievable affintiy..fond, fond feeling...for OHIO expressed in that thread is your answer.

OHIO is a place, has soul, matters.  The other schools in the MAC combined don't come near.

Sorry.  Them's the facts.

I think a good read for all is the Wikipedia history of the MAC (and I have seen much of it).  While better schools like Cincinnati and Louisville moved on, the MAC was more than happy to "add to the bottom".  Two of the directional Michigan teams, Akron, Ball St, Buffalo and UMASS are prime examples.  While each has had some success in the two major sports, none of these schools have been "consistently" and "historically" Division one type schools.  I'd say go back to the orignal schools that are left and start adding/inviting  "to the middle or top of the pack" and let the bottom rung go back to where they came from.

I thought it was interesting that when STO carried the Fiami-O$U hockey game a few weeks ago, they promoed it as "Miami Hockey."  Yes, I realize it was part of the MAC package; and I know they used Fiami's feed.  But I can't imagine a statewide cable sports channel making O$U the "other" team for their promos.
