Worst possible match up on such short notice.  We will have problems with the altitude.  There's no time to get out there and adjust to it.  This really worries me.

Matchup with an even worse rebounding team than our own.  They are #347 in the nation.  DEAD last.   I don't know anything about them other than that.  Might be a good matchup other than the altitude and travel concerns.

Actually its better to get there as late as possible: articles.baltimoresun.com/2013-01-09/sports/bs-sp-ravens-high-altitude-20130109_1_sea-level-altitude-broncos

As far as on the court goes, they appear to be a team that shoots a lot of 3's and has a high number of assists. Their starting big men are 6-5 and 6-6 and they have no one over 6-7 in their rotation. They are not a good rebounding team. Its odd. They force a lot of turnovers (3rd in the country) yet play a very deliberate tempo (346th in the country).

I've heard that it's best to not get used to the altitude; best to come in the day before you play.  Also don't need to worry about jet lag; that's more of a problem going west to east.

Looks like it's on ESPN3.  Damn.

One of the few teams in the country that I haven't seen play even once this year.  In looking at their Pomeroy profile they aren't the type of team that gives us fits but that's just speculation.   I also worry about the altitude with no chance to adapt.

That being said, if we do manage to beat Denver, Maryland poses a nightmare matchup for us.  They rebound, rebound, rebound and rebound some more.  Plus they love taking the ball to the rack with Dez Wells.

I've heard the get there and get out theory but I don't really buy it.  When I've been in those types of altitudes I've notice that after about four or five days you do begin to adjust, but at first you are really aware of having less stamina and getting out of breath easier.  The one thing that might help us is that we have a relatively deep bench and if we use a wise substitution approach we might somewhat neutralize the altitude issue.  But, as of now it's my biggest worry.   If this game was in Athens, I'd be much more confident that the Bobcats would move on to the second round.

Do I understand correctly that through the first three rounds, the higher-seeded team is always the home team (aside from issues where its home court isn't available, like in Kentucky's case)?

If that's so, it looks unlikely the boys could play again in the Convo.

OCF ...that is the least of our worrieS.Backgrounds, altitudes. I see where you are coming from but you have kind of a fringe POV IMHO>>>>>>>>> I would be more concerned with rebounds and attitudes/

I will actually be driving from Detroit to Pittsburgh - across the northern part of the state - 80 to 76 - what station in the network has the strongest signal?

Why get on a plane, just drive to Columbus and turn left onto I-70.

Yes, I'm a fringe kind of guy, but others on here have expressed the same reservations.  As I said in another post, I'm hoping that our deep bench can help mitigate the altitude issue with judicious substitutions.  I remember having the same worry a few years ago when we played at Wyoming in football.  We lost that opening game in a manner that indicated lack of stamina at the end and I think it affected the rest of our season psychologically.  BTW, I think if you're an OHIO fan you're probably a little fringe to begin with!

If you have an Xbox and the right cable company, streaming games on ESPN3 isn't bad at all. Time Warner finally got on board, and I was watching several conference tourneys with no problems. It was a pleasant surprise.

Is the effect the same indoors as outdoors in high altitude?  I feel really stupid even asking this question. But I never hear it mentioned when the Cavs play the Nuggets, etc.
Please be kind.

Unless they pressurize the building to a lower altitude then yes it will be the same.

Denver is my second fave city in North America. Been in and out of Colorado and run races, truathlons and biked there. Never had a problem with the altitude. Have done a week or 2 also just flew in competed the next day and left. I always wondered what the hype was about.

Football teams and basketball teams go in and out of Denver and Utah weekly. I think you just go and play. Given the style of play of Denver it is not going to be an up and down game.

Yea, this makes ESPN 3 somewhat tolerable, althought the quality still isn't all that great. I noticed the Watch ESPN Ipad app also allows you to watch ESPN 3 as well, without forcing you to have a provider that supports Watch ESPN. My Android phone's Watch ESPN forces me to log into a provider that supports Watch ESPN before it will give me access to ESPN3. My internet provider(Charter cable) supports ESPN 3 but Directv(my TV provider) doesn't support Watch ESPN.

None of the network stations come close to delivering a signal to the upper 1/3 of the state.  Using the iPhone or Android is your best bet.  My youngest played in a soccer tournament in Richmond during the MAC tourny last year.  For the semi final game Friday night, we listened to Russ and Rob using the TuneIn radio app while traveling through WVA and Northern VA.  It worked like a gem.
