UK is out. I want to see OUr boys at Rupp!

And Kentucky can't turn down the NIT. They have to play if chosen, according to their AD.

Interesting JSF, I bet there would be more than a few Bobcat fans that wouldn't mind taking a little road trip to Lexington, that's if we get into the NIT. I seem to recall Akron getting snubbed a few years ago, and that was with something like a 25 win season. We shall soon see!

Turning down any postseason tournament is moronic. You're throwing away free extra practice days.

I think an interesting matchup would be OU vs. Xavier. Game would probably be in Cincinnati, which would be great since I live here. Quite often the NIT looks for regional-type matchups.

A Cincy roadtrip wouldn't be bad either. I have seen Xavier play this year and they are not in the same league as the Musketeers of a few years ago.

Xavier is not an NIT team unfortunately. Although they did play better late in the season by beating Memphis and almost beating VCU, a 17-14 record won't impress a lot. However, I wouldn't be totally suprised as every team who finished ahead of them in the conference made the NCAA Tournament (Temple, St. Louis, VCU, Butler, LaSalle).

UK likely won't play in Rupp, it will be in Memorial Coliseum - because of hosting NCAA tournament in Rupp. This is where they also played in the NIT during Billy G's last year. Living twenty minutes down the road from either, I would love this. Finish with a win, and I'll wear OU gear everyday for a month. Lose, and I'll never hear the end of it. I HATE the wildcats (mostly because their fans are obnoxious). Trust me, they are still sore over the last football loss...

As I type this at 7:50 p.m., I say Xavier definitely will be in the NIT.

The NIT likes big-name schools more than it cares about RPIs or whatever. Any relatively big-name school with a winning record, and MAC schools likely get the shaft.

The NIT also cares a lot about selling tickets, and it probably figures it can get more money with a game at Xavier being two-thirds full (7,000) than some smaller schools that might sell out a 5,000-seat arena.

Watch the NIT field fill up with SEC, ACC and Atlantic 10 type teams. I just hope like heck they make room for us...

Probably right. The NIT needs as much money as possible so the more tickets sold the better.

Wouldn't mind seeing Ohio and UK play at USBank since Rupp won't be available.

Uh, oops.

Oh well. Glad to be wrong and see us in the field rather than Xavier.

Oh, darn.  I thought this thread would   be more baseless speculation about how we're changing to a better conference.  I apologize for getting my baselessness confused.

Agreed.  I would love to see us beat Kentucky in the NIT, although if I am looking at the bracket right we would be playing them in Madison Square Garden, not Rupp.

Could you imagine if that game would've been @ Ohio.  You gotta think that if it was @RMU, @OHIO would've been an option and one for the ages.  Too bad and a missed opportunity.

I will be very surprised if UK even makes it to Madison Square Garden.

I think Cal is a Moon Twp native IIRC. As pissed as he is at this team I would be surprised if he did not use this whole trip to bring these players back with a huge reality check. Make em feel what it is like to play on the road and stay in Motels that are not quite 5 stars.....hope he asks RMU for the womens locker room. It would be nice to take these players and give them some humility. Just because you wear that name on the front does not mean you have earned the blue blood.
