we can argue about coach's salaries, etc, but at places like Ohio any BB profits seem to go back to other athletic teams. Some 450 students on scholarships profit in a way from any money bb makes. And fans being exploited- you're joking right ?

Here is another interesting article, this from Memphis Business Journal, about ROI of basketball budgets and correlation to seeding in the tourney: http://www.bizjournals.com/memphis/blog/2013/03/more-spen...

I knew that Louisville was the most profitable. Minnesota and Illinois surprised me as did Kentucky, which wasn't on the list.

Now you know why they looked the other way in the Pitino scandal. Louisville has always been about the money going way back.

FWIW, Forbes put out their own list. There's is "Most Valuable."

http://www.forbes.com/sites/chrissmith/2012/03/12/college-basketballs-most-valuable-teams/

Interestingly, Xavier is on the list. Their number will only go up with today's announcement of the move to the Big East.

I wonder how many of the top 20 coaches have meaningful academic achievement bonuses included in their contracts?

Anybody have b-ball budget figures for OHIO?

Someone shared a list earlier this year.  If I recall correctly, Ohio spent about $2.15 mil this year.  (or last?)
