Maybe I am being a bit too critical here but after watching G TOwn and Marquette this weekend it seems that college ball may be moving a direction I am not very comfy with.

Looks like these teams are wiling to give a few more than "hard" fouls bordering on excessive to establish a dominance or put a player out of ....if not the game at least his comfort zone for the rest of the game. Brown at FGCU just layed there and then got up and shook it off. Smith of Butler got his bell rung good and Hulls from IU has a should er injury that took him out of the game on a no call collision at mid court.

Seems like sending a message early or in late game situations with a very hard foul seems to be the direction we are going.

Can't wait till that trickles down through the HS coaching ranks and lower and your 5th grader is laying there after the other volunteer coach has called for a good hard foul on a kid who has been scoring big.

Maye I am just sensing the game I love is moving away from skill and development to one of physical and brutal play that rewards less skill and more athletic/physical players

Did ya watch the bad boy Pistons or Riley's Knicks team. John Chaney at Temple and his 5 foul in 10 minutes power forwards.

Been going on for years.
the NBA guys don't beat on each other like they use to, mostly out of self preservation = more $$ and we're all pals.

i don't like it early in a game as a message.

But in a close game, you take or give a hard foul. Then make your free throws.

the Georgetown game got some deserved flagrant call fouls.

Well yeah

Did not think it was right then but given that the NBA game is totally different and those are grown men I don t have much thought on that.

This is not the NBA and there is a huge difference in the game.

Hard fgouls are one thing and I have been known to walk down to our players and tell them if they are gonna take the foul, get your moneys worth and prevent the bucket.

This is different in my eyes.. G Town and Marquette are really delivering malicious blows. If that is the way the game is going, so be it ....I will probably lose interest and find more time to do something else. I usually switch channels when I see shows with rape, domestic violence or other things I find offensive. Dont watch the NBA. COllege goes down this road I ll find something else.

I follow ya. B ball is a non contact sport right?
When it is, it is a much better game.

Players move thier feet, keep hands off, and go straight up.

Some of the elbow flagrant ones are incidental, but maybe the flagrant 2 should be looked in a different way.
