People have been arguing on this board for a while over who the starting PG should be next year. Should it be Stevie or should it be Bean Willis?

Why not both? If Louisville can be the top team in the country while starting two 6'0 and under guards then why can't we start ours?

If Willis and Stevie are the best two playmakers on our team next year I say they both should start.

I thought near the end of the year that some of our best offensive stretches came when both D.J. and Stevie were on the court.   And we saw how effective we were with 2 PGs on the court in 2010.

Great idea. I loved the combination of DJ and Stevie on the court at the same time last season. It seemed to let DJ get free for some better looks at the basket. It seems to me Stevie has the ability to make a corner three pretty consistantly if left open. So maybe have Willis bring the ball up and look to get Stevie open in the corner.

I like the 2 pg system.  My issue is more with what this would cause us to do with the rest of the lineup...

If you have Bean and Stevie in, is Kellogg at the 3? Is Hall our PF?

My hope is that Kellogg gets his stroke back and we want him as our starting SG. I think TJ has actually played some PF for us, but I just do not feel comfortable with a guy his size starting against 6-8 guys defensively.

Now if you are arguing Stevie over Kellogg, I agree that is worth considering if Kellogg has completely lost his range. I think the play of Kellogg was a huge factor this year and will be a huge factor next year. And by huge, I mean it was the biggest factor in how our season ended.

I think if you go small and offensive with a 2 pg set, you can go big and defensive with the rest of the lineup.

Yes, I would love to see how it would work having both men on the court at the same time.  Back in the day, Coach Snyder used this system when he had the personnel.  In fact, Ohio's Elite 8 team had Charlie Gill Sr. and Jerry Jackson as starting guards.  They could both distribute and score, though Jackson as I recall had better quickness and got more driving layups.

As an aside, I find myself getting very excited about Ohio's BB prospects next year.  I'm not exactly sure why after this past season being such a bust in many ways, but I just sense that it may the lull before the Bobcat Storm.  JC has a number of interesting recruits and transfers coming in, and he'll be able to play his brand of ball.  Of the returning players I think a real key will be the play of "Sweet Nick"!  I'm also hoping that next year we at least one or two decent non-conference HOME games.  Well, I can dream can't I?  Go OHIO!
