Thanks for posting, JSF.  This is going to get confusing -- the AAC and ACC.  Perhaps that's by design.

I had the same thought. At least we can relate with MAC and MAAC.

it sounds like a bootleg brand name you would buy at a swap meet.

This does kind of sound like "American Eagle Conference", or "Athletic Apparel Conference".

Maybe they should have gone with Adiós, Athletic Conference!

There are a lot of ACC wannabees there, so the AAC was as close as they could come.  Maybe they should call themselves the "Not Ready for ACC Conference."

They wanted to get back to their roots, but C-USA wouldn't sell its name to the former membership

Probably the only thing that kept the AAC schools from claiming some kind of right to is that, for this year, there are more current members of CUSA staying than leaving.  Four CUSA schools are leaving this year for AAC (UCF, Memphis, Houston, SMU), with eight staying.  But next season, three more head to AAC (ECU, Tulane and Tulsa), so if the Big Least breakup had waiting one more year, the seven departing CUSA schools might have been able to take the name with them.  When the dust settles on all this next year (including L'ville's move to the ACC), there will be more founding members of CUSA in the AAC (Cincy, USF, Tulane, Memphis & Houston) than in CUSA (UAB & Southern Miss).

MACtion vs AACtion. Get the lawyers ready, I'm predicting a frivolous suit over ownership of a lame marketing hash tag.

Here's one I want an answer to:  How does Aresco still have his job as commissioner?  Clearly, he hasn't done well in the last two years.

I like it.

I look forward to the preseason picks thread next year. I can call for a national championship and then he can call for us to go 0-30!

The Big East committed suicide when it turned down a very lucrative TV deal a couple years ago. Thought they could get more. Greed kills (as does stupidity.)

Whose network was this with?  I don't remember this happening.  Again leads me to ask how the commissioner has kept his job if he turned this deal down.

I still think they should have gone with Prestige Worldwide.

ESPN. It is one of the main reasons Syracuse and Pitt left the Big East. I saw Jim Boeheim talk about this on PTI. This was a huge deal. Not sure how anyone could have missed it. This article talks about it:

Yeah, we'll try to find something more interesting than the breakup of the Big East, which is affecting the ACC, the Big 10, the A-10, the MVC, perhaps the MAC, and actually all of college sports. Pretty boring stuff. By the way, do you still believe LeBron James was not worthy of the #1 pick in the NBA draft?

That could be a good point...if it had much effect on us.  Wait; why not start the twelve thousandth baseless thread about how we're changing conferences.   And, good on you for dredging up a misinterp of one post that I put up about 10 years ago.  What--do you get your jollies out of this creepy following of my posts?

Thanks for posting using an alias.  You show great courage and character in all respects.

You'll be there all week.   For years and years and years.

Maybe in your next post you can analyze that one I put up in 2006 about the playing surface at Peden.
