Would people please stop comparing this to Penn State already?? The things that occurred in State College are immeasurably  worse than throwing a basketball at a college-aged kid. Not at all supporting what Mike Rice did...but it's not even in the same conversation as PSU.

This was more than throwing a b-ball at a kid.  There was a pattern of shoving kids and addressing them using gay slurs.  And this was at a university where a kid committed suicide over Internet posts about his sexuality, so you'd think the administration would've been a lot more sensitive to the issue.  He put the university at risk of sexual harassment charges; whether or not a player is gay is irrelevant if the coach created a hostile environment based on sexual preference.  What occurred at PSU was much more outrageous and disgusting, but the Rutgers situation also involves physical and mental abuse that was known to those in charge and their response was inadequate.

The latest is TOS to Rutgers as AD.  It is now an open position.

Well, he scored Bryant a home game in the post season, right?  If he can do that, he could probably do magic at Rutgers...

What were they thinking? How did the University President and the AD EVER think that not only would Rice not survive but themselves survive IF that video ever saw the public light of day? I think before the dust settles on this one it's going to be a threesome going out the Rutgers door.

Exactly. Especially when the assistant that filmed it all mysteriously did not have his contract renewed. At that point, you'd have to KNOW that the video would have been seen somewhere.

According to the news reports out here in N.J. the assistant didn't have his contract renewed because of a falling out with Rice over the assitant ,who is a former NBA player, making appearances at rival summer B.B. camps.

I figured there was more to it than that. And here it is:

Eric Murdock, the former team assistant whose video sparked the crisis at Rutgers, filed a wrongful termination lawsuit Friday in Essex County Superior Court against the university and its president, as well as Rice and Pernetti.

Murdock worked for Rutgers from July 2010 to July 2012. The lawsuit charges the school with failing to take “any steps to assure that the rights of the student-athlete members of the men’s basketball program were protected from assault.”

He said he brought his concerns about Rice’s behavior to Pernetti, but his complaints were ignored. He said he was fired for criticizing Rice’s behavior.

Mr. Morris is looking at incidents during Rice's tenure there.

Funny . . . we'll I thought this was a spoof from the beginning since Delaware isn't big enough to have a middle.
