And that 2,700 count on a week night will be better than the attendance from all 6 MAC games this weekend with the exception of the game last night at Toledo.

Oh how MAC basketball has fallen.

NFL playoffs, the weather, etc...

When Mississippi State hosted 5th ranked Tennessee in basketball recently, the upper bowl in the gym at MSU was pretty much empty and the place only holds 9100 to begin with. Whatever they claim the attendance was...don't believe it.

Hunter needs to step up in this one, especially if James can't go. In MAC play, CMU is fourth in FG%, third in 3pt%, second in defending FGs, and fourth in defending threes (which Ohio is dead last in). Hunter was pretty much absent on the road trip; just nine pts in two games. He needs to be a force in this one.

and thats the reason why ou should leave the MAC and go to a conference like aac, american, big east or conference usa. ther'd be more tv exposure and they wouldn,t need to win the conference tourney to get a spot in the ncaa tournament

My sincerest apologies if my post on MAC attendance had anything to do with Bobcat 2000's cut-and-paste reply about Ohio moving to a bigger conference.

The current C-USA? Is that a joke?

Go to Virginia to play so-called "Liberty" and then turn around and play at New Mexico State? Seriously? Ohio playing at Jacksonville State which is in the middle of nowhere in sort of eastern Alabama?

A game against Sam Houston State at the Convo will really pack the place?

In the last two games combined, we've gotten THREE rebounds from the Center position.

Why stop there? Straight to the Big 10. They're dying to get a piece of the Wiz.

Anyone else see something puzzling about the above ticket prices for Tuesday games this week? Ticket prices in Athens higher than all other MAC games and most of the other games above. Tickets in Knoxville, Dayton, Penn State, Stillwater, Tuscaloosa and Cincinatti all below ten bucks. Some of these games have ranked teams playing.

Because we obviously have a much better product and experience to offer our fanbase.

Ticket prices are low because at most places student dont go to games anymore. And there’s so much other stuff going on that adults don’t go either. Look at our lower bowl at any game and it is 2/3 empty. I’m assuming those are season ticket holders and they’re not showing up. Or we haven’t sold those seats in the first place? Watching our games on ESPN plus from Cincinnati Ohio is real disappointing when you see our crowds and compare them to what they used to be. I’m sure most every other athletic department in the country feels the same way.

Put a winning program on the floor and the attendance will rise. I suspect it's always been that way.

While true, a consistent cast with a character or two brings folks out. With rosters that look like the revolving door at the downtown Higbees, it's tough to tell who is on the floor without a program. It doesn't hurt to have a character or two on the team - someone that's bit unique. The obvious ones are guys like Geno and Spindle Graves but Treg Setty would be a more recent example.

If it wasn't for that damn dirty 1998 team, Ohio would already be in a better conference. Set this program back 20 years. Amiright b2000?

That is true as well. I was a long-time season ticket holder but stopped during/after Covid and didn't purchase them again. I still attend a few games, and enjoy it while I'm there, but really don't think I'm missing much when I don't.

Central's the worst rebounding team left on our schedule in terms of opponent rebound rate. Feels like a team we match up pretty well with. In the MAC, only Central, EMU, Miami and NIU are worse than us at the moment.

We give up offensive rebounds at an identical (and abysmal) rate to CMU; 31.6% of opponents missed shots result in another possession for both of us.

But we foul way more than them. We give up .26 free throws for every opponent FGA.

That means that every time an opponent takes a shot, there's a ~20% chance they'll get fouled, and every time they miss there's a ~32% chance they'll get another possession.

A lot of our other defensive numbers are quite good, but those two things make it basically impossible for us to be a good defensive team.

Lack of rebounding is truly abysmal. Hard to watch giving up so many offensive rebounds.

Cincinatti and Dayton played before 11,000 and 13,000 fans respectively recently at their last home game. It was just surprising that Ohio had one of the highest ticket prices listed above and that was not just the MAC games, but the entire slate above.

I gave my tickets away to some games... thus when you average out whatever that one isolated ticket hustler is asking on VividSeats (and probably not getting) and then factor in free...the average would be quite unimpressive.

If they want people to show up they could be doing simple things like quit charging people with a handicap tag to park way out in BFE in frigid weather. A 60 or 70 year old season ticket holder with sciatica or a replaced hip might agree.

I am shocked most missed the actual point of your post. Hard to justify, why ours are the highest other than that's just how we manage things.

Side Note: CMU has a 6’10” Canadian who is pretty legit. And here I thought we cornered the whole market on Canadians.

Billy, putting a winning team on the field, doesn’t seem to make the big difference it used to. Just look at OUr football attendance …seems like a lot fewer students and a lot fewer adults with their butts in the stands nowadays.
