Good lord, why isn’t Hunter in the game?
Because he was playing awful tonight and was hurting the team while on the court.

Hill and Spurgin are what we wish Jaylin/Clayton were. Tough to beat a team that shoots 50% from 3, hitting 12 overall.

I applaud Boals for keeping Sheldon in at the end over Jaylin. Just a tough year for the latter. We got last year’s Clayton and it showed. 8 FGA attempts, 7 3PT. I’m not sure why he camped beyond the arc so much tonight. Our offensive sets are still pretty rough.

Intensity was there until the end, but damn BG is good. Todd Simon’s stint might be short lived — he’s only 43. Helluva transfer coup between Hill, Thomas, and Spurgin. The latter might be Simon’s guy from Southern Utah, but he could easily have landed at P5 with his height and his ability to knock down the 3.

Clayton had 0 rebounds.

Meanwhile, the fella he was trying hard not to guard… 15.

Never gonna win too many games when your two C combine for 2 rebounds, 8 fouls, and 7 three pointers.

Missed the game and glad I didn't waste 2 hrs on replay. Zero rebounds from our "big" is totally unacceptable. 4 pts from Jaylin. 3 for Miles. Will someone who watched it tell me what happened with Jaylin?

Why did we keeping leaving the balding British looking guy wide open on the wing? That's literally the whole game.

I understand he has been dreadful, but still shocking to have your first team, preseason All-Mac player in Hunter on the bench for the last five minutes. We are going to struggle to make it to Cleveland in March. A 2-6 start is a real possibility.

Vegas handed out free money tonight for BG backers.

I do agree BG is good but we left way too many points out there. We let them speed us up which is no where near what this team needs. We can hardly score when running a long shot clock offense. It seemed like we’d have 2 really nice possessions followed by 3 or 4 rushed ones. Also, I believe it was around the 1:30 mark (or somewhere close) that Boals was very upset with the offense just standing and watching the game. He was yelling at Hadaway to cut but he just stood there. The possession ended in an ugly turnover and Boals slammed the ball and yelled “f$&@“. Coach is trying to figure out who to play and what to run but everyone just kinda seems lost. Stagnant offense and shotty defense will sometimes beat bad teams but will never when the games we need.

Hunter had four fouls and didn’t play last five minutes. He’s definitely in Boals doghouse. I am starting to wonder if Boals is not losing the team a bit. Western Michigan will be telling.

I wouldn’t say he’s in the doghouse yet. He’s just not having the season he had last year unfortunately. If you wanna talk about doghouse, anyone who saw Boals stare at the back of Mark Sears head while going into the locker room vs Toledo at the Convo will give you the “oh shit” feeling. I thought Jeff was gonna kill him

This. Yea, I saw that reaction too. Fear brings up a valid point above as well with Jaylin potentially being in the doghouse. Right now, this team looks like a complete mess.

Maybe he was only All-MAC because Dwight opened it all up for him. You can't have ZERO inside game and be consistently good. We don't even have the threat of an athletic inside presence like a Chris Payton.

Oh my eyes…

Hunter had a nice dish to a cutting/lumbering Wiz… Wiz had all the elegance and fleet footed moves of a rhino on roller scales and absolutely heaved it off the top of the backboard from about 4 feet away.

Picture Phillip Seymour Hoffman in Along Came Polly when he screams RAIN DANCE and you’ll have it.
If one possession sums up The Whiz era at Ohio…this was it. I’ve never seen a guy shoot a 3-footer and have the ball nearly break the backboard and ricochet back to half-court.

Wiz may not be a first team All-MAC performer. But you, yes YOU, had zero expectations of him coming into the year. Game after game you blast him. I continually wonder WHY? Why not go after the supposed "stars" who have been mediocre all year? First, he has IMPROVED over last year. Go look at year over year numbers. And in some ways sees the court better than a few of our starters. Of our 5 starters, 4 have had way worse performances than Wiz based on expectations. Were Clayton's numbers tonight any better than Wiznitzer?? Straight up, NO. Yet Clayton played more minutes. Can you rank who you hate most? Christian, Saul or Wiz? Maybe one-year Boals will be an honorable mention with such an elite group.

PS the ball did not nearly break the backboard, nor did it end up at half court.

One thing to leave you with. Was the shot you mention above more of an impact on the outcome that Clayton firing a missed 3 when we were down just one point?

Is it possible the above-mentioned shot by Wiz, while not aesthetically pleasing, was due to him rushing the attempt, thinking the shot clock was expiring?

Guys, it was just a funny looking shot. Comical and memorable, so mentioned on the board. We don't need to compare it's impact to all other plays or examine the causes of it.

It is so incredibly frustrating to see Clayton revert back to the perimeter guy firing contested 3s. His progress in the paint and sliding out to only fire open 3s has been the literal #1 success story of the program this season. 1 two point attempt and 0 rebounds from our best big...come on.

Having said all that, based on my eye test I credit BG greatly. I thought they had a lot of very nice plays and shot the ball really well.

That makes a whopping 7 losses in games we were favored - BG, Toledo, Cleve St, Youngstown St, GW, Marshall, Austin Peay. Very much in every single one of them, I'd be curious what the under 4 total score has been for us in our losses. Just not finishing well.

Goodness…the sensitivity. It was funny. And MDWST is right….the shot reminded us all of Phillip Seymour Hoffmann in Along Came Polly.

Also, hate is a strong word. I don’t hate anyone or anything. When it comes to The Whiz, I’ve said it a million times. He’s not a division-one basketball player. I blame the coaching staff for its failure to evaluate his skill level properly. And yes….Chris Mack must have had an eyesight problem when he recruited The Whiz to Louisville. It certainly explains why Mack is no longer coaching if this is the talent he was bringing to Louisville. Anyway, The Whiz ain’t going anywhere…so hopefully next season, he learns how to finally catch the ball.

And you are joking right if you feel like I haven’t called out any other players or coaches this season. I actually went weeks without even commenting on The Whiz and then he went all Philip Seymour Hoffman on us last night and it was funny.

And since you want me to rank my “hate” list….honored that you would ask by the way….here ya go. But as I said earlier, I don’t have a hate list. Why don’t we call this “Fear Leon’s Special List For Mid70sBobcat”.

1.) Jimmy Christian
2.) Saul Phillips
3.) Devin Davis (for the old school MAC guys)
4.) Bahamas Ezuma
5.) The Whiz

This was the biggest disappointment for me from last night. He's progressed so much in the paint this season and has been our most efficient scorer. Camping around the perimeter all game with 0 rebounds, just creates more confusion (to me at least) as to what this team is doing and skews further away from any sort of offensive identity.

I assure you that Clayton was following the gameplan. Did you expect Boals to have him post up their 7-footer and Agee, who plays like a 7-footer?

The good news from last night is that we fought back from a couple of sizable deficits.

If that was Boals idea of a game plan, it failed miserably. But yes, I would expect AJC to play physical against Agee and Spurgin; since he’s shown ability to so this season against opposing big men. Hadaway had no problem trying to get to the basket on either.

Any game plan around AJC playing passive and avoiding the paint due to another team’s big would be comically embarrassing to deploy.

Three observations: Their Big better than our Big. Hunter is a shoot first guy, and Sheldon is a pass first guy. Our defense would make a matador blush.
