Ben Wight played 8 minutes, grabbed some rebounds and committed some fouls. Uneventful handshake. He sure handled his trip the Convo more classy and gracefully than Sam Towns.
William & Mary is one of few U.S. universities recognized as "Public Ivy." It offers the lowest student-to-faculty ratio (13-to-one) among leading national public universities.

So he went there for 4 years. Is that really anything to be bummed out about?
I'd never suggest he should be bummed out, but a lot of people would still harbor a personal resentment in that situation.

I think you missed the intent of the post. After Sam Towns left, he made vulgar gestures towards players and the bench in both games last year against Ohio while he was playing for BG. Wight was set to come here until Boals came in and (I believe) pulled his offer. You could make the assumption he'd have some ill will towards Ohio/Boals for this, but stayed composed from what I (and Andrew) could see. There's no disappointment in this, merely surprise that Wight took the high road compared to what Sam Towns displayed last season.

I didn't see anything from Wight last night that would indicate Boals made a mistake.

Same...I don't even think Wight plays against Ohio if not for Tod K wanting to see if that would give him extra mojo to stick it to Boals.

If I were Lee Martin I'd do it myself but he is probably the reason IJ gets to live the sweet life.
If you’ve ever wondered why Wiz has the worlds second longest leash…

Since there was little defense with the lineups we played, why not put Gabe and Clayton on the floor at the same time to see if that mix would work. Coaches are too much in the "how do we match up to them" mode vs "let's see how they match up to us". gave up an and 1 and then another bucket as soon as h replaced Wiz.

It couldn't have been any worse than the final outcome. No wonder Clayton fires up a three every time he touches it out there. He must feel that the only way he will touch the ball is if he gets an offensive rebound. Now maybe he doesn't move well without the ball or know how to make himself a target. On the radio it sounded like Hadaway had touches and that should have been Clayton while Gabe played the nobody ever passes it to me Clayton position.

I've wondered the same about Clayton and Wiz out there at the same time, especially recently as Wiz seems more aware of things and does help on D when he can. I think we were down 5 when Clayton came back in and gave up an and 1 near the basket and then another bucket next possession to go from down 5 to down 10. At least give it a shot of both of them out there to see if it may be more effective than the horrific D last night. Two potential shot blockers may have kept Toledo more on the perimeter.

One thing we did well was hustle back and defend on breakaways.
Maybe overall, but I can't help but cringe thinking about the uncontested layup UT got off a missed Ohio free throw. How Miles Brown allowed a Rocket to get behind him for the easy 2 in inexcusable for a 5th year player. He then followed that up on OUr next possession with a turnover and quick foul in the UT backcourt.

Interesting pregame dynamic between Boals and Tod K. They're clearly not friends.

Missed that last night SBH. Please elaborate if you are willing. Inquiring minds want to know.

Boals approached Kowalczyk, who gave him a curt nod and said three or four words to him and broke it off. Boals then walked over to Toledo's assistants, who were under the basket. All but one were visibly standoffish to him - and Tod K. was watching.

I get the impression Kowalczyk treats his assistants like indentured servants.

He appeared like he didn't even want to be there.
