I always thought college recruiters had to be a special breed. What other career requires an adult professional to go into homes and kiss the @ss of 17-year-olds? I, for one, would find that demeaning.

It has had to only gotten worse in recent years with the advent of the portal and NIL era. In addition to the previous degrading responsibilities, these coaches now have to compete against their competitors with higher NIL offers. Not to mention having to re-recruit their players every off-season.

Maybe they're not being paid enough, giacamo?

What other career is completely dependent on the talent of 17 year olds to earn hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars a year?

The NCAA has broken so many brains with decades of propaganda about the merits of amateurism. It's truly through the looking glass to consider the work of the university's highest paid employee demeaning, while the 17 year old kid works for free.
