I saw Jason played in 3 preseason games.

vs Maccabi - 31 Min, 4 Pts, 1-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT, 9 Reb, 10 Ast, 2 TO, 1 Stl
vs Timberwolves - 6 Min, 0 Pts, 0-0 FG, 0-0 3Pt, 0-0 FT, 3 Reb, 0 Ast, 1 TO, 1 Stl
vs Nuggets - 18 Min, 2 Pts, 1-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 0-0 FT, 2 Reb, 3 Ast, 3 TO, 3 Stl

I have no idea how NBA rosters work but I assume he is on the active roster and excited to see if he sees the court in their opener tomorrow.

No offense to the other Preston thread but I felt we needed a fresh start from the "playing football" title.

I was looking at rosters this morning, since the NBA schedule started last night, and I assume him being listed with the Clippers means he is not headed to the G League. At least not right now. Hope he gets some run!

He has been hampered with a groin injury.

Still an issue? I had seen that he missed one preseason game with the groin, but then played the following game off the bench. I was hoping it wasn't something that would keep him off the floor.

Moses Brown and Moussa Diabate are their two-way players. Jason is kind of in a roster no-man's land where he won't be playing much due to the Clippers' outstanding depth, unfortunately.

Not sure how contracts work these days, but Preston's $1.5M is guaranteed and from all sources they seem to really like him. Would have to imagine he spends the most if not the entire year in the G-League.

UT's Ryan Rollins got in 2 minutes for GS last night, finishing with a rebound and assist.

I predicted G-League even if healthy, when they signed John Wall that was all she wrote for Preston for now.

It will be interesting. As the 2-ways, Brown and Diabate will be the ones spending most of their time in G-league (by requirement). As a non-two-way, if he gets assigned to G-league it will be for the long haul.

Jackson and Wall will obviously get the most minutes at PG but are both a bit fragile (and old) and will sit out some games. So hopefully Preston will get some run. Thing to watch in early season is when he comes in at pg versus Terance Mann. If Mann comes in and handles the ball, Prestons minutes will be almost zero. Hopefully, with his game, he can carve out a niche

As someone who doesn't really follow pro basketball, what exactly is a "2-way" ?

Here's my understanding. NBA teams have 15 man rosters. Up to 13 of whom can be active for a game. That doesn't mean the last two guys on the bench are the inactives - they could be players taking a night off or nursing an injury. Additionally, each team can have two "2-way players' - these are players primarily assigned to the G-league team. They are primarily on the G-league team's roster but can be called up for a bit over the course of the season (40 -45 days - though that may have changed for Covid). Key is they are G-leaguers first. So it is a good sign Preston is not a 2-way player.

NBA teams can also assign other players to the G-league - and those players can come and go, back and forth, as much as the NBA team wants. Could be vets who are rehabbing or younger players who are simply not getting quality minutes in NBA games.

The key for Preston is to regular get 7-8-9 minutes a game as a backup to Jackson and Wall. If he does then those minutes will jump to 15-16-18 when either of those two get nicked up or take a day off - which the Clippers are famous for.

If he is not regularly getting those handful of minutes, but rather Terrance Mann (combo guard) is getting run at pg, then Preston will only get real garbage time minutes and will probably find himself assigned to and playing primarily in the G-league (in order to get playing minutes). And then only getting called up if there is a long-term injury.

If ranking team's perceived value of a prospect. 2-way guys are third. G-league assigned are 2nd and those getting 7-8-9 / 15-16-18 are first. Guys getting more playing time than that are no longer prospects.

Know he has been recovering from a groin injury, but hopefully Preston will get a few minutes tonight (on national TV) since the vets are still getting their regular season legs. Should know his path by Thanksgiving (G-league starts in early November).

Last night Preston was a “DNP-Coach’s decision” for Clippers loss to Lakers. From the stats it looks like Jackson and Wall were both kind of “meh”.

I agree, Wall’s stat line was ok but not good or great. May take a bit to get back in the flow of things…

Wall was the better of the two. Per Taiwan - once he gets his timing back I think he will get the most minutes. Issue was Jackson and Wall played 48 combined minutes - one was always on the court. Mann got the handful of minutes (though not at pg) I was hoping for Preston. 7 of the next 10 for Clippers are against teams they should handle - so will indicate if Preston has an opportunity. But man are they deep. Kawhi currently coming off he bench - smh

Let's be real, Jason is the last guy on the bench. He would probably need both Wall and Jackson out hurt to get minutes in a close game against Bron and AD. If he were playing for OKC or San Antonio, maybe he'd crack the nightly rotation, but not a team that has serious aspirations for Western Conference one-seed.

Thought I had yesterday.... the Clippers roster (and I imagine several other NBA rosters) or kind of constructed the same way we have been constructing our women's team. A couple point guards, one or two true post players, whole lotta combo guards and forwards.

Nope, not tonight…. Close game with largest lead of 10 or 12 briefly by the Clips, Sac got close in the final minute to make it a 3 pt game with only 12.3 seconds left. Maybe next time…

P.S. My first bout with Covid right now. Ouch, head hurts!

Go Bobcats!

Was just about to post this. Missed 3 pointer as well. Definitely looked nervous which is understandable. Onward and forward for JP. Very cool to see his debut.

15 players log minutes for the Clippers last night, that is pretty crazy. And unfortunately the bench clearing was due to being blown out. Love that he got the chance, hope he gets another one soon to erase the sour taste of those free throws.

Good point, but I think he mainly got in because the Clippers played the night before. Clipps coach waved the white flag early, pulling starters with 4:30 left down by fifteen points.

If they had the Elam ending, they would have had a chance.
