I like how Coach Offutt sounds.  It would be exceptionally cool for Walt to be able to return to the bench in Athens someday.

If he can coach kids to play the same way that he did, I hope there is a direct pipeline from his school to Athens.

Good for Walt! He told me during his first year at OU that he hoped to become a coach some day. Glad to hear he made it happen.

Walt Offutt is one of the easiest Bobcats to pull for. Hope he has a ton of success in his chosen field.

Way to go, Walt!  I predict that within five years he'll be coaching at a college somewhere.

Walt will be a great coach and great influence on the players. I hope I get to see him on OUr staff sometime in the future.

I've been in this school several times over the past three years.  An academicly sound instituion with very involved alumni and parents.  Very deep pockets continue to support this school at the highest level.  In my opinion, Walt has made an outstanding decision for his first coaching position.

According to this, they haven't had a losing season in at least 8 years (don't know how they had a tie in '09-'10).  I saw elsewhere that they were Div 3 state champs in '98.

Former Bobcat Ryan Greenwood was a Cathedral HS product.

Something tells me getting on the floor for loose balls and taking charges is going to be a major part of what this team does.

First off.....they don't recruit. NO matter what anyone tells you they will tell you on no uncertain terms they don't recruit. Doesn't matter how many Southren Baptists and AME Methodists you see in the hallways they do not recruit

When Walt was playing at Warren they were in the same Sectional and regularly beat up on him and his teamies. A couple of  years ago they changed coaches. Was Scott Hicks of Notre Dame basketball fame but the new coach is a really straightforward guy that is very fundamental and surrounds himself with good guys. They are getting good kids from all over the city as they are the one Catholic School that does not have Parish Boundaries to contend with. Walt will both benefit from the association with Coach as well as bringing a lot to the table that will benefit Cathedral. THey play a tough schedule overall and havebeen becoming a pretty hard nosed team under the new COach. No prima donnas or showboating. Straight up blue collar work ethic unlike the public schools most of these kids are transferring in from.

They were over at Flying to the Hoop a couple of years back and beat up on a pretty decent Centerville team IIRC. They got a good bunch of kids that have D1 potential in all 4 grades right now. Not sure if he is working in the school or coaching and finding employment elsewhere.

I think it is a good fit close to home in a sectional and league he knows well. I hope he picks up a coaching job with a summer ball team like Indiana Elite or Indy Heat. He will do well with the college coaches that will cross his path on a daily basis.
