It seems like every year a couple of MAC teams are involved in this (usually Akron or Kent State if my memory is correct.) Just once I'd like to see the Bobcats sign up for one of these events, whether for a home or away game.

If not the tip-off marathon could we please work our way into one of the dozens of legit preseason tournaments that are out there these days? Other mid-majors, with much smaller budgets and brand recognition than us, make it happen year in and year out... Gimme some early season intrigue please.

I believe I recall JC mentioned at the Columbus edition of the Bobcat Caravan that this was something on his agenda for next year, but this year it was out of his control to get into one of these.  Don't quote me on that, but I think this subject was discussed when he had the mic.

Interesting to see this is the 4th straight year Kent state has been a part the event, getting a better time slot each time.

  • 2013 - 7 PM @ Temple (ESPNU)

  • 2012 - 12 PM vs. Temple (ESPN) - L

  • 2011 - 10 AM @ West Virginia (ESPN) - W

  • 2010 - 8 AM vs. Robert Morris (ESPN) - W

Correct.  I asked the question that led to this response.  He said not this year because we are locked into the on-campus tournament we've been in for the last couple of years . . . doesn't seem to really be a tournament to me, but a way to get a couple of extra games against the max.
