Anyone having blackout issues, I highly suggest using a VPN service. I recently bought a year subscription to Private Internet Access, and it's been well worth the $40 a year. It takes about 5 minutes to set up on a computer, and then you can use it to change your IP address to one in a different part of the country or some various countries in Europe.

I don't have cable, so I used it in conjunction with my MLB.TV subscription to stream Pirates games that would have normally been blacked out since I live in Pittsburgh. I didn't have any issues with it, and didn't see any loss in steaming quality either.

I really like this . After years of running my own enterprise as well as working with Tommy overseas to get feeds and Slingbox access I think this is well worth the money

I'd be curious to see you run a speedtest.net report through that, Tyler - VPN makes a ton of sense, but often performance varies greatly. If you're able to get solid live video streaming through it, that's huge (and further makes blackouts seem silly).

I was going by Mr. Guy's indications earlier in the season that they'd be available through the live streaming part of the site, which was often the case last year. I tried that the other afternoon to no avail (though I am not blacked out on ESPN3).

Bravo, Time Warner. Bravo. Your reputation is well-earned.

He blamed the Ohio/CMU for not appearing on Live Streaming because someone didn't connect the Time Warner feed at Peden. Apparently, the host school must get the Time Warner feed at the stadium and send it to MAC Sports. Doesn't sound like something that has a high probability of working.

I also looked on Saturday for a link to watch some of the Buffalo/Kent State game and there was nothing there.  Judging by the lack of tweets from Jeremy Guy, he may have been out/at the BG/Toledo game.  Is there no backfill there to put up the link?

By my count, 2 of the 4 Time Warner broadcasts we were told would be available on the MAC site have not been.  Incompetence<limited television package.

You guys that have (not) been watching football are really making me excited for watching basketball #MACtion!

The MAC does the best (worst) with what they have!  I mean why have a sports channel distribute a feed to the conference when you can ask the host school do it?  I mean the sports channel is prob (not) busy distributing the feed to the millions of MAC fans around the state (and the world)!

AMIRITE?

Just ran a couple tests with and without the VPN. Using my home IP address and a local Pittsburgh speedtest server, I got 30-40 Mbps (over 802.11AC wifi).

Using the VPN set to London and a London speedtest server, I got 25-28 Mbps.

So it does slow it down a little, but it's still fast enough that I haven't see a drop in streaming quality or any buffering issues. I'm paying for 50 MBps internet though, so it might be an issue for those with slower internet packages.

That is odd I watched that game and the Ball State game in Lancaster.

Even at half the speed, that'd be plenty usable. I'm impressed.
