Hmmmm.  Some options:

- Ohio Health Arena
- Harley Davidson Center
- Cardinal Health Arena
- Bob Walter Athletic Complex
- Pepsi Center
- Athens Towing Arena

Ohio Health is in the process of either buying outright or incorporating O'Bleness Health System... would be a good opportunity to advertise their brand outside of Central Ohio, which they essentially have taken over.

How about the "Playboy Magazine Top Ten Party Schools Convocation Center."  Would affectionately be called "The Playboy" for short.

Which brick company provided the bricks for Court St? I'd give them first naming rights. After that I'd reach out to businesses with headquarters in Ohio.

Longaberger? Seems wholesome. Unique. Every family owns one they keep regifting, right?

Cedar Point/Kings Island parent company? I like this option. Everyone loves roller coasters, sunshine and funnel cakes!!!

Scott's Lawn Convo Center. Feeeeeeed it!

Cornwell Tools. Disclosure: my dad's company that 60% funded my Ohio education. Cornwell Convocation Center? 3-C?

Is Great Lakes Brewing big enough to bid on naming rights? I sure hope so. I'd be honored to visit the Great Lakes Convo.

I would guess it was Star Brick Co./Nelsonville based I believe (hence the designs on the new bypass ramps) which would not be a good source of funding since out of business for 100 yrs I think?

No, it was the Athens Brick Company.  It was located on the south side of Stimson and took up almost the entire area from State Street to the river on that side of the street. They made paving bricks that were used all over the country.  My daughter, when she was as student at Michigan, found some bricks on the U of M campus saying "Athens, Ohio" on them.  These were shale brick, not clay brick.  They were made by grinding up shale into a powder and then mixing it with water into a cement-like consistency and pouring that into molds.  These molds were heated in big kilns that were once located in the area mentioned above.  I've seen old photos of the brick plant and it was quite a large operation.  Some of shale was mined from the area that's now the location of the Armory at the end of Court Street.  Believe it or not, this was all before my time but I have read the history and seen the old photos.

Correction: Upon checking with my sources and oiling my rusty synapses, it was my sister when she was working on her Ph.D. at Michigan who saw the Athens, Ohio, bricks and not my daughter when she was working on her undergraduate degree at Go Blue U.  I do remember finding them once when we visited my daughter there, but she wasn't with my wife and I at the time.  I know that this doesn't make much difference to anyone, but I wanted to set the record straight.  Now, I feel better!

I sense the tide is shifting in the Athletic Department toward seriously building up the basketball program after a few decades where the focus was on how to save the football program.  The Convo was built to compete nationally not just within the sandbox called the MAC. I feel like coaches have tried to come into Athens in the past and raise the bar with new initiatives but there wasn't strong administration buy in. Of course if you go back to Danny Nee's time the Convo was only 15 years old and was contemporary as far as arenas go. A lot of the improved lockeroom graphics in basketball remind me of Solich's football makeover when he joined the Bobcats. The timing is close to the same with the new JC regime.  Moving out 5 years from today and we've made the NCAA's 4 times it will feel like the Next Level.

They should start with a decent laptop and some excel training for the Ticket Office/Bobcat Club Accounting/AR staff. Bigger checks written, yes. then get emails and calls - you still owe $xxx.00 for seat licences, balance for TY Bobcat Club, etc. "But, I paid $xxx.00 on this date, then $xxx.00 on that date", etc.. "We'll check into that". Then get call back "after checking our records we determined you still owe "yyy.00" ($275 Less than what they said before). I'm still not sure they got it right (pretty sure they don't).................That system is EFFED UP!

The best dryers ever are the Dyson airblades, and they should be in EVERY restroom on the planet.

According to Oprah, these types of dryers are not sanitary.

I am sure Oprah stayed at a Holiday Inn Express and came up with that...I do not know what is worse....research coming withconstantly conflicting reports as to what will kill you ....or talking heads pushing one idea over the other as gospel and the latest news. ......perhaps there is value to what she is saying but I will wait for some kind of microbiologic evidence backed up by a lab. That said...... I long ago stopped leaving my toilet open when I flush as I read a study where they had swabbed toothbrushes and surfaces for scatter bacteria that were put in the air when you flush a toilet with and without the lid closed.

In any case....those of us who wash our hands would like to do much better than wiping our hands on our pants and shirt or not washing hands. In her scenario ...to be sure.....Paper towels would be much better anyway. Wonder what costs less over the long run.

This all reminds me of an old joke............

Two guys walk into a men's restroom. While walking in they notice that they both have University logo sweatshirts on, politely nod to each other, then walk over to the to stalls. After they both finish their business and zip up, one proceeds to the sinks, and he notices the other is walking straight to the door. The one at the sink says to the other "at Miami University they teach us to always wash your hands after going to the bathroom". The other guy looks back as he is pushing open the door to leave, and says; "Well, at Ohio University they teach us not to piss on our hands"................
