Our attendance for the Ashland exhibition. I was surprised by this number. I expected a good turnout, but over 5k got me.

Are season ticket sales up?

This number makes me optimistic we can try for 10k for Northern Iowa next Saturday.

I'll safely guess 9K for next week.

Had a friend attempt to buy season tickets for the first time, and he was told that the lower ring is completely sold out in season tickets. That was a pleasant surprise to me. There's been single game tickets sold in those sections for as long as I can remember.

That number was definitely "paid" attendance (lots of no-shows from season ticket holders)...but very impressive. I don't think 10-11K is out of the question for Northern Iowa.

Man, if we can continue to pack the Convo, that'll be amazing.

I'm so excited for this season.

The letter that came with my season tickets said "all time record season ticket sales".

With it being Dad's weekend - a 2:00 game - no football conflicts - I would not be surprised at 10-11K.

Keep forgetting about Semesters/Dad's weekend. See no reason we shouldn't see five figures for this one. Hope we get 'em riled up.

Bet about 1,000 of those were Marrietta fans.friends,family. I think there were a bunch of promo groups too, but maybe for this one as well.

They are really advertising it well around campus I should add. Getting emails daily and have posters everywhere. Plus there is no football game Saturday which should help

For just an exhibition game, there was a ton of excitement in the Convo! We have the potential of some massive crowds this year!

My brother scheduled his wedding for next Saturday, I know silly.  And my usual ticket moochers are my brother himself, and OUBob...who is also in the wedding with me, so let me know if anyone is interested in 4 tix.

I realize it was an exhibition, but I thought that the O Zone was far from the top of their game. Many students sat down, even in the lower bleachers. Only time they got very loud was winning team-losing team.

Hope that this changes significantly come Saturday.

Really? Winning team/losing team for an exhibition against Ashland? lame.

And so it begins. Keep in mind, I say that with realization that I do a lot of the bitching about the current state of the O Zone, too. But it was just an exhibition. With Saturday being Dad's weekend, I'll bet you can expect the atmosphere to be a bit subdued unless the game is neck and neck. I have a feeling it will be a good game on the court.

Last years opener was the Sweet 16 celebration / glass give away against Portland.

Marietta was several years ago and in the middle of December...not sure where you're getting the Marietta thing from, but we haven't opened against them in recent memory.

If I was going to whine about the OZone, it would be more directed at whoever currently runs their twitter account. I wasn't a fan of the twitter was before the second Akron game, but I understood it. But, I'm not one to go out and start crap with other teams players. Maybe I'm just getting old... (Although I was seriously surprised to see George Thomas from the beacon journal going back and forth.)

The O Zone was fine. There weren't a lot of students in there yesterday, but the few that were there were into the game. The Winning Team/Losing Team chant was appropriate. It felt like a real game. I'm excited about the season.

I didn't think the winning team/losing team was appropriate for an exhibition.

Yeah, good crowd, but lots of no shows.  Maybe about 4,000 in the house max.  Maybe more like 3,800.  The extra season ticket sales will keep paid attendance figures decent until MAC play.

I was thinking the same thing. They had a decent amount of fans/friends/family there - I was a little embarrassed.
