Didn't realize Todd Bozeman was their coach.

Depends on the time of the season.  Currently he is in between suspensions.

CS,B: One of the most fun (funnest? I can never keep that one straight) times I have had watching a non-Ohio basketball game involved a Bozeman-coached Morgan State team. They were playing WVU in the NCAAs, and I was at a bar in WV with a few buddies. One buddy is obsessed with Bozeman, hates WVU, and is one of the more obnoxious drunks you'll ever meet. How we made it out of the bar without punches thrown I do not know.

In this age of Direct TV, College Basketball packages, First Row Sports.com websites that show every sport/activity imaginable from every corner the world 24/7, video steams, etc......  and you're playing a game that nobody can view anywhere outside of the actual arena--- I think it's safe to say you're officially in the "bush leagues."

Bush League is having unscheduled Womens basketball games before the mens game, pushing back the tip off of the main event

The live stats link from ohiobobcats to Morgan State's website doesn't work.

Just got Russ and Rob.

I do not know why we are playing these guys on the road. Doesn't make sense to me.

They came to Athens a few years back. Most likely the return game in a home and home agreement. True road games are always a good thing to get in before the MAC season

20/31 from the free throw line.  If shooting low-mid 60% range on free throws continues, we're going to be giving away a lot of free points with the rule changes and more trips to the line.  For a team that has struggled to score in stretches, we need to make good on the free tosses.

By the way, big props to Bozeman for not having their big man, Ian Chiles, in the game for the last defensive possession.  Didn't understand that move at all.  Stevie may still have gone to the line with him in the game but there's no way he's making the shot.   Whatever the reason I (and I'm sure Stevie) appreciated it.

We were very lucky to escape with a win last night.  We came out flat and didn't come close to matching Morgan State's energy.  Only Ric, Treg and Mo had any jump in their steps. Nick might have but he got in foul trouble early and sat a lot of the first.  We spent a good portion of the first half trying to drive to the hoop. Unlike previous games however they were allowing body contact if the defender kept his arms straight up and didn't move into the shooter.  Morgan State did a good job of this. We didn't.   We were extremely lucky to be only down one at the break but the Bears just flat out can't shoot.  But they were very aggressive and effective on the perimeter defense.

The second half was better, at least energy-wise, but we killed ourselves with foul shooting.  Bean had his best game as a Bobcat but he just doesn't appear to look to create anything but his own shot.  Once he decides he's driving he's shooting. Stevie hit the huge shot but I also thought he had a sub-par game.  Mo didn't have his best game but he sticks out like sore thumb when he's on the court.  He took the game over for a good stretch in the second half.

Neither Stevie or Bean is a true point guard.  Stevie had 1 assist last night.  He is more interested in scoring.  Bean doesn't create either, but he doesn't take as many shots that aren't in the flow of the offense.  We just have to hope that they both develop more into true floor leaders

Speaking of Morgan State. It's a nice small campus right near where old Memorial Stadium used to be in Baltimore.  On our way up there last night my GPS led me to a blocked entrance to the campus.  We then proceeded to ask 5 people walking on the campus directions to the arena. The first four didn't have even a remote clue and the fifth said he thought it was in "that general direction."  Thankfully the 6th guy knew.

The Bobcats had a nice big crowd with the majority behind the Ohio bench.  I brought the whole family and there weren't five seats together there so we ended sitting in the student's section.  All the fans I spoke to were cordial and a few came up to us after the game and wished us luck.   Unfortunately, the game had very few big moments so we didn't have that many chances to get loud.  That was until the end.  The loudest moments were reserved for the timeouts when hip hop blared and the Bears cheerleaders performed some routines that would make Miley Cyrus blush.
