First matchup against an Ivy League school since the 2008 CBI, also against Brown.

We should schedule a h/h with Penn so our guys can say they've played in the Palestra.

I only got a chance to listen to a bit of the game. I haven't read posts from the game this afternoon..when I got a chance to list, it sounded as if we had more offensive rebounds. . Positive. Also, I haven't heard of any progress /regress from Miles' availability. Oh, well good win. I'll take it . Pleased with the AjJays, AJ's, E.J's . I apologize if I forgot one. I would like to see more PT for the future rather than wasting a big that IMO washed up somewhere in KY. Go Cats

Mitchell and Boals both said on the radio postgame that hopefully Miles would return soon. That obviously isn't a timetable but it's the first indication that possibly some good news is on the way.

This game is a lot closer than it should be. Brown is scrappy to its credit.

Both teams are aggressive on defense and are doing their best to use up their allotment of personal fouls. Neither team is easing off

Liked a lot of how Ohio played today, but they are not good at putting teams away. Our size disadvantage makes it easier for teams to get in the paint and draw fouls. Would mixing in some zone address that at times?
Missed FTs also needs cleaned up.

Liked the effort. Liked the steals. Getting to the hoop on offense.

Looking at the box score it was a tough day for the AJ’s! . Clayton with 5 fouls in 19 mins., Shelton with 4 fouls and no points, Brown 3 of 10 shooting.

Will take the 2-1 record in Bahamas especially with AJB really not showing up. He got banged around and got up slowly twice. He has completely disappeared in games on offense for considerable stretches of minutes. Will the real AJB please stand up.

Free throws are inexcusable from the guards.

Love Hadaway’s hustle and energy. A couple nice passes today, but man, he has to make the chippies he’s missing.

If Clayton gets in foul trouble or goes down with injury, it’s going to be near impossible to beat quality teams.

I’m not as convinced as others that Miles is going to be back anytime soon. Don’t bring him back until he’s 100 percent. We are doing fine with Reef.

Trevor Huffman's brother was the star guard.

Wonder if AJ Brown is playing banged up. Doesn’t seem to be as fluid since he had to go into the locker room at few games ago at home when he was holding his arm/shoulder on a tie up for an attempted rebound.

I really hope at some point we can get miles back and IJ to play. At the moment it may look like AJB has disappeared but playing him at 4 due to our lack of skilled size is hurting him tremendously we have him setting screens ,rolling and battling in the paint with people 50 pounds heavier then him. Instead of how we played him last year where he was able to create his shot off the dribble and get easy catch and shoot threes.

If I had to guess... it's because he's playing out of position. He's a SG who is a volume shooter, who likes to create his shot, spot-up, etc etc

We have him playing PF because he's taller than 6'2"

It's tough all-round, but I think it's most tough on him in these early games.

He'll probably figure it out soon, but not without a ton of frustration.

Well, I think Ohio us the better team, but do you think Brown is that much inferior? They are picked fourth in a league that's been a half step better than the MAC the past few seasons.

Agree. One week ago…Brown trailed USC by 3 at the half and gave the Trojans all they could handle. Brown is not a pushover.

My point is simply we were 19 points ahead. We let them hang around and we let them make it close. I believe they are an inferior team to our yes. I say that based on the Sagran ratings. I say the same thing about Cleveland, State and George Washington.

One of the benefits of building a lead that big is the other team has to spend a lot of time and energy to come back. So they may be out of one or both by the time they close the gap.

I'm overall pretty ecstatic with the performance in the Bahamas. For various personnel reasons, we were down to nine scholarship players and everyone got lots of run. The biggest takeaway for me is that all nine are pretty reliable players. Yes, Gabe was rough against GW, our lead guards need to make free throws, and AJB needs to get into more of a groove soon. But none of these guys looked like complete liabilities. We might have the best guards in the MAC, and that's with the season's limited body of work mostly without Miles Brown. When he returns, maybe Sheldon's minutes return to the four minutes he received against Troy, but even Sheldon so far looks far improved from last year. Going at that 300 pounder from MTSU for layup was my personal favorite highlight of the weekend.

Hopefully IJ handles his business and he is at least serviceable. I fear we're on thin ice with AJC and Gabe as our only true usable bigs. The ability to go 11 deep with everyone at least in their second year of college ball is about as complete of a roster as you can ask for in the MAC.

I didn't watch any of these games but a common post I'm seeing is that AJ Brown disappeared at times. This was true last year in his freshman year. IMO I think we were too quick to label him as a top scorer on this team. The talent is obviously there, however, he only broke 20 points one time last year, MAC tourney against Ball St. Finished the year with 10ppg.

There were a couple glaring games last year where he was essentially shut down and a non factor. He had back to back against Kent and Toledo where he went for 0 and 2 pts. Kent/Toledo/Akron were all able to keep him contained pretty much every matchup.

He is only in his second year but clearly needs to take some big steps forward here before MAC play. Health may be a factor but it all counts towards the bottom line.

The last home game he went out with a should/arm injury. He did return but wasn't a factor after that. I have not heard any official injury report. Hope he heals quickly.

Shades of Gavin Block playing the 4 and 5 during Saul's tenure because Carter and BVP were hurt.

I did not get to watch the games as I was traveling. Feels like we should've been 3-0 with the pool of teams, but a win Friday would've changed our path and we likely still would've ended up 2-1. To get 2 wins and nearly 3 when AB & EJ don't do much and Miles out is pretty good. I still have a lot of faith in that trio in the MAC.

My continued faith in AJ Clayton as a serviceable big man is only strengthening. In a roundabout way, his development in the paint has helped his outside shooting as he is getting better looks. Absent foul trouble, there is no reason he should ever be under 30 minutes played.

Starting to think Sheldon is up to the task of taking over for Jaylin next year. Love how his outside shot is looking after a rocky start his freshman year.

Next 3 games in Athens are decent formidable opponents. Should tell us a lot. Hope we have Miles back.
