My wife and I drove through the mountains between Central Ohio and our nation's capital during a blizzard in December of 1998 to see Ohio play at G. Washington. She was pregnant with our first child and we had a flat tire within 10 miles of our house. Still made it to the game and sat across the court from Wolf Blitzer. . . .
As much as we've exchanged barbs on here, I must admit that I'm impressed with your commitment to our Alma Mater. Great story! [If we ever meet in person, ask my wife about the trip back from the OHIO-Penn State game in 1969.]

Funny that ohiobobcats.com lists this as only our second matchup with George Washington. We played them twice, once in Preseason NIT and one in postseason NIT, in 1994-95 and Boals was on that team lol.

Having said that, I don't believe that was a preseason NIT game. Maybe another matchup in addition to the ones mentioned?
These are the stories that make BA great.

I failed to mentioned BA's own SBH was suppose to join my wife and me and a college buddy of ours who was living in DC for the game. However, he decided against making the trip on the day of the game due to the weather conditions.

From Rothstein: GW should have a chance to start five power conference transfers. Talent base is improved around James Bishop. Should push for a finish in the top half of the Atlantic 10.

James Bishop originally LSU
Benny Schroder originally Oklahoma
Maximus Edwards originally Kansas State
Garrett Johnson originally Princeton, not P5
Babatunde Akingbola originally Auburn

Was just about to share the Twitter link to this. Akingbola recently committed. Going to be a tough, but fun first matchup.

It’s a tradition unlike any other in Bobcat land…here we are August 1st and no full non-conference schedule released. Any bets on when we will learn who the opponents will be for the final three non-con games?

The irony is the Men's Basketball social handles put out a 100 days until the season graphic today.

That is funny.
100 days until the season starts.
99 days until the basketball schedule is finalized.

We joke about this same topic every year. It just boggles my mind how we can’t have the non-conference slate announced by August 1st.

It looks like Toledo is still awaiting the bracket for the Ball Dawgs Classic in Nevada. Other than that I think they have released theirs. I don't think any of of the other MAC schools are close to a full non-conference schedule being out.

It takes a lot of high-power negotiation to get that home-and-home scheduled with the Rio Grande Red Storm!

Thanks for sharing this. So, it’ll likely be in the next few weeks per usual. I thought it might be sooner since most games were already accounted for between SBC/MAC challenge, Nassau, and return games. Looks like OSU, Xavier, and Dayton schedules are out. YSU is playing the latter, jealous of the that. Other teams I’d love to see us play like VCU and Charleston have schedule’s out too.

Santa Clara released its schedule yesterday, they became the 50th (out of 362) school to do so. Ohio is typically right in the middle of the pack.

We're a mid major who tries to have a reasonable number of non-conf home games. We don't get to make our schedule. the blue bloods pick and choose their ideal schedule, the rest of the p5s still get a much easier time filling out a mostly home schedule while espn and the conf networkds go out of their way to put them on tv. We work with what's left and generally have to factor in more travel. We're never going to be early. You can sit there and waste a bunch of energy being shocked and offended that we've got a local D3 in there somewhere, or you can remember that it's a necessity.

I don’t think (also wish they weren’t) D3 schools have to be a necessity. We’ve done a good job with mid-major home and homes against Belmont/Delaware the last two seasons. Get more of those instead of UC-Clermont. Take the P5/P6 games if applicable on the road.

One of the all-time great stats here in BA history. Thanks Ted. Incredible how the non-con wasn't released until 10/8 in 2021-2022. Maybe it was post-covid related...but still...that's ridiculous. I'm not holding my breath we see this year's non-con released in August.

Last year, we started releasing games in bunches on 8/16 (revealed Michigan, Eastern Illinois, and Alabama State). So, maybe within the next week?

A little surprised we haven't seen an individual game leaked by now.

Youngstown State put out their non-conf schedule today. Got two games vs Michigan and UD, in addition to playing us on Dec. 6

I've wanted us to play UD since I was in school. It's still amazing it hasn't happened. I don't wanna hear that no one wants to play OU when they're scheduling YSU after the great run they had.
