At the moment, the Salukis hold a little more leverage for that than Ohio, or many MAC schools do. At least in the MVC, half the conference isn't in the bottom 100 in the NET. Heck, in the MAC, the bottom 3 teams are in the bottom 30 or so. The whole state of Michigan. Wooofff...
Maybe we’re just asking the wrong schools. Oklahoma State played at Oakland last season too.
Maybe so. Here's another thought: airport access, or in Ohio's case, the lack of a commercial one nearby might affect things. Maybe? Of course Carbondale isn't exactly a metropolis, so that's kind of out as a reason there.
Columbus is going to have a good airport... in 2027.
Columbus has a fine airport now.
Yeah, it's... fine. I'm glad I'm either arriving OR leaving, but never laying over (both) because then it would be the worst.

When is the last time you were there? 2012? It's had a ton of upgrades. As someone who travels for work, I can tell you it's VERY nice compared to many regional airports.
Definitely flown into and out of c-bus a lot. It's not dirty, things seem modern, generally easy-in, easy-out. But if you had to stay there and wait and needed food or drink, your options are limited and terrible.

It's a large airport serving a big city, but it's also not a destination city for tourists, so I'm sure they have to balance those things with what to invest.

Also, if you fly into a C-gate but need to connect out of a B or A gate (probably not common, but...), to the best of my knowledge you have to exit security and re-enter just to connect. You can't shuttle, train or even walk directly to the other concourse.

Not sure how Iowa State will get here. I remember that I was told that UConn several years ago opted to fly a chartered jet into the Parkersburg Airport. So, there are other options than Columbus, but it's probably the one used most by schools traveling some distance to get to Athens. And, I agree, CMH is a fairly good airport.
Hopefully this is all moot by fall, OU Airport literally got $2.5M from the FAA for "runway rehab" - WEDNESDAY.

I just flew into Columbus on Wednesday and Wednesday night I changed my two trips to Ohio from Cincinnati to Columbus, even if it cost me more. Columbus is definitely better than Cincy. Faint praise, I know but there’s no comparison between these two as far as getting around and getting to your rental car. I don’t spend a lot of time there, so no idea about restaurants, etc.

It's a whopping $2.5Mil, and a three day project. Doubt it does much more than painting lines.

If it was the Army Corps of Engineers, you'd be surprised what they could build in three days! [Note to oldkatz: Don't say I never said anything good about the Army.]

Pretty sure it's not the Army Corps of Engineers on this project.

Jeff Goodman has UNC Greensboro listed as the 8th team for the Nassau. 20-12 (14-4 conference) last season, finished 3rd in the regular season of SoCon. Not sure what it returns from that team.

We don't need a Chili's attached, just a bigger runway.

I do not have a degree in construction management, but I doubt that $2.5 Million is going to get you much of a bigger runway.

According to Rothstein, we are set to play at home against Troy in the first game of the MAC/SB challenge. The exact date not certain, but this is assuredly going to be the season opener.

Also, didn't realize this, the MAC team is the home team in all games during the November slate, and the SB teams are home for the February slate.

Assuming none of Troy’s upperclassmen (of the two seniors; one maxed eligibility) left via portal; looks like it should return a lot of firepower from last year’s 20 win team.

Yeah, this will be an excellent challenge out of the gates.

Piecing some things together, I think the YSU game will be sometime in December.

Is Bobcat legend Rifen Miguel in his 17th year at Troy?

I think Rifen only played at Troy for one season; he was at UT-Martin this past year.

Agreed. Hopefully we can fill the remaining games (2?) with top 50-75 teams.

Huh

We have a home basketball game with Detroit and a home football game with Central Michigan both on November 15.

What exactly is the plan there?

Also, Delaware is expected to announce their non conference slate soon.

Plan? To use an overworked, hackneyed phrase, that's not in our DNA.

My guess is they move basketball to like 2:00 in the middle of a completely run of the mill work day.

Since most of our schedule carried over and we have the Nassau and Sun Belt/MAC Challenge, what’s the over/under timeline on filling the remaining 2(?) games?
