Gotta like the way this non-conference schedule is shaping up this early on. Assuming, we add a P5 game or two. I’ll guess Old Dominion or Troy for the second Sun Belt Challenge game.

Marshall - Saturday December 9 (confirmed by D1 Docket)
Sun Belt/MAC challenge - one game between 11/8-11/11. Based on previous year NET ranking. As it stands now, I predict this to be James Madison

Away:
Cleveland State?
Sun Belt/MAC challenge - Saturday 2/10. Based on live season NET ranking

Neutral:
Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship 11/24-26
Am I reading this right? We’re getting a non-conference game in February?

I like it. I miss those old ESPN BracketBusters games.

That’s right. Sun Belt/MAC Challenge is doing two games; one in November and one in February. I agree, it’s a cool way to break up the non-conference.

I wasn't aware of the MAC/Sunbelt deal being two games. Great move by both leagues.

I also wasn't aware of the Bahamas "classic". Thanks for sharing!

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but the Nassau bracket of that Bahamas invitational is all mid-majors, though there is some quality to be had. It just stinks there aren't any power conference teams it. Guaranteed at least three games it looks like though.

The 2022 Field - Ball State, Vermont, Missouri State, UNC-Wilmington, North Texas, San Jose State, Oakland and Long Beach State.

https://bahamarhoops.com/#!/bahamaschamp

So based on that we can probably bet we'll be going on the road for at least a couple money games.

Providence seems like an outlier here. I imagine it’s part of the other bracket with P5’s. Meaning, 3 spots still need be filled for the mid-major bracket to get to 8. Hopefully stronger than Brown, KC, and UIC.

That's the four team Bahamas Championship. They need one more participant. We're in the Nassau championship which is likely all mid majors.

I am glad we get to play Detroit. We should allow Antoine Davis to play one more game so he can break Pistol Pete's record....said no one ever!!!!!

Schedule will be fascinating next season. Boals can't use the excuse that nobody wants to play us anymore. Need at least one slam dunk top-25 team on the schedule. Would love to get games against mid-major schools like Charleston that won their conference year before.

Hoping some of this mid-major schools who won their conference are also part of the Nassau tourney. As it stands; UIC, Brown, KC, MTSU, and ourselves isn’t as a strong of a field as last year’s.

As it stands now, I count 10 non conference games already accounted for. The opponents for some are TBA (Bahamas tournament and the Sun Belt challenge) but that leaves two or three games still needed assuming a return to Cleveland State. This is mostly done.

Not gonna lie...that's frustrating with the caliber of teams in the field.

It is for sure, when you look at how solid last year’s field was -> https://bahamarhoops.com/#!/nassauchamp

Most of these teams won 20 games. North Texas is in NIT finals and Vermont made tourney.

Scheduling some P5 schools is always nice, but trying to schedule some Tier II teams (net) seems like a good strategy for building our resume.

PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE play MTSU and beat their ass for bailing on MAC membership and leaving WKU high and dry on that front. They deserve a good ass kicking.

I'd argue they should be looking to avoid that 'top 25' unless there is a healthy payday needed for budgetary reasons. Those are often basically a guaranteed loss. Of course they also come with Tv exposure... 🤷‍♂️

I'd be looking to make sure those games were Top 75 away games, while staying away from the top-20ish if possible. I.e., look for more winnable games while still looking for Q1/Q2 games. My two cents worth anyway.

Agreed. I would avoid a Top 25, unless there is some money or a regional angle to it... or our other option is UC-Clairmont.

I'd be digging around hard for that Top 25 team if we felt we needed a measuring stick, but without a huge portal addition I dont think we're surprising many people.

I'd rather get a home-and-home on with Butler, reach out to Pitt, Cincinnati, UD, Xavier... some regional power where we could potentially have a nice crowd, close drive for the team, some recruits eyes on it, etc... that's my ideal "top 25" game.
