I'd be remiss not to mention KVK shutting down Greg Monroe in the 2010 NCAA tournament:-D

I am a Cal Poly season ticket holder though I don’t see many games. Koromo can be a force but has been very inconsistent. If all else fails, he would be in my opinion a better option than Wiznitzer because he is more athletic. Also he looks to me as if he has real upside potential.
That’s cool you have that insight. Do you think he’s at least athletic/physical enough to hang with other MAC bigs? It’s too bad Foster isn’t happening; but we just a better option than what we currently have. I really like Jay Pal, but he also has a lot more — and more notable suitors. It does appear he and Shereef know each other from Omaha days, though.
I don't see where Foster committed somewhere yet?
I think it’s fair to say that our new found interest in other bigs + about two weeks removed from his visit that he isn’t coming to Athens. Social media signs are pointing to him going to Illinois State. He’s following most of the roster and staff now.

I was just trying to make the rotation visualization easier by holding our minutes from last season and entering players for this season.

I tend to agree, but I would be shocked if he nears the 29 minutes he averaged last season. Not with AJB and Elmore needing far more than their 15 and 20 and the additions of two more guards in the portal.

My point, other than we didn't really have a lot of major minute guys last season, and might not this season either, was we have a lot of guards who need minutes - and not a ton of 4 or 5's to fill spots.

If we don't make an addition, I think potentially both Wiz and Hadaway will be in that mid 20 min a game, with Clayton playing 30+. Not ideal.

Nice to know the Cal Poly men's team has some good players. I've seen the Cal Poly women play in person three times -- three losses, and I don't think they have a starter who would make the bench at OHIO. Any explanation, Dave, for why the women's team has been so bad over a rather extended stretch?

I’ll let myself be surprised, but Foster making decision soon and we’re in the final four. I still think he lands at Illinois State given recent activity on his end.

Know he's following most of the roster and staff at ISU, but crazier things have happened.

I’m playing it straight.

Poly women’s basketball has had some good years but has struggled since their long-standing coach retired.

For a little insight, Cal Poly has some similarities to Ohio University. It is located in a similar sized community and has close to 22,000 students. A few years back OU’s retired president served 2 years here as an interim.

That said, the gym isn’t much bigger than the high school gyms in which I played in northeastern Ohio 50+ years ago. The men’s basketball team hasn’t been much good for the last 8 or 9 years. The Big West Conference is maybe close to the MAC in quality however. The big names are UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara and Long Beach State.

After some thought, I think Koroma would be a good addition to the Ohio team. He is a very good defender and has had some great scoring nights. However, though he hails from Sierra Leone, he has been in coastal California long enough to probably think twice about relocating to a colder climate in the foothills of Appalachia.

Appreciate the insight on Koroma. Yea, I have to imagine the geographical change might be a hurdle for us. Maybe we can bring Ibrahima Diallo (former OSU big) back this way. He just entered.

Thanks for the info on both topics. Maybe Koroma would like to get back to a climate that has more rain! :-) Though, he might have felt he was back in Sierra Leone for rainy season with the weather in California earlier this year.

He and Freeman together will be tough to handle. We really need to hit a homerun with a portal big. Foster posted that he will announced tomorrow (Friday). I have a bad feeling about it but weirder things have happened. I never saw DeVon Baker coming.

Good for Akron. . . good for the MAC. Good for Ohio?

What's that saying? A rising tide lifts all boats. Not unlike what Marshall did for MAC football a while back, no?

Happy to see him coming back. Will be more fun beating the Zips now that we have similarly sized addition to guard him and hopefully give Ali trouble at the other end.

Nobody as answered my question? How is Ali Ali eligible to play for the zips in 23-24? Is he a grad transfer or what ruling allows him to play without sitting a year?

I'm actually curious on this. If it's his COVID year that's fine for eligibility, but what about the transfer?

In theory he already used his free one time transfer when he went to Butler. This is transfer #2. Do you get a free pass if it's your COVID year that I wasn't aware of?

Same thought applies to Tanner Holden returning to Wright State. Why doesn't he have to sit a year either?

Is there a COVID loophole? Or a return to previous school loophole?

Now what? Boals has assembled a really great group of wings with massive potential: Hunter, Cornish, Miles, AJB, Elmore and Reef. Clayton is a solid 4. But I don't want to enter next year with IJ and Wiz as our big guy rotation.
