Watching this online right now and Akron is really physically taking it to ORU.  But they really aren't a very good offensive team.  Don't know the stats but I'd venture to guess that a large percentage of their points are on second chance points.   This is the third time I've seen the Zips this year and they just don't create any good easy shots.  Everything is contested.

Akron's announcers are just plain awful.  The Zips are shooting FTs at nearly twice the rate of ORU and the announcers just keep complaining about every foul.  Every time a Zip is defended he is getting hammered.  Whenever a Zip is called for a foul it's a phantom foul or a touch foul.  Of course, they completely ignore when Treadwell or Johnson blatently push guys out of the way for an offensive rebound.   It's times like this where I count my blessings that I get to listen to Russ and Rob.

Oral Roberts just took the lead 51-50 but the Zips came back and hit two free throws to jump back ahead 52-51 with just over ten to go.

In other games Oakland is doing to Illinois State what they did to us.  The Redbirds had a big lead early but are now down double digits with 2 to play.

Akron pulls away for the victory 74-64.  They are going to get killed by a team that can play good pressure defense and can shoot.  Oral Roberts can't do either.

Understand that ORU has only one senior on the team, a couple of JUCO juniors and the rest are freshman and sophomores.  They start 2 freshman and 2 sophomores and their best player is out for the season.  I also agree that the officials were terrible.

I was thinking about going to,this game, but opted for the Old school MAC coaching matchup and see Western Carolina and Cleveland state. After watching Cleveland state a few time the last week, I don't know how they kept up with UK.

as for Akron, I thought the same thing watching them play Coastal Carolina to open the year.  They did look better to me with Diggs running the point. Well see. It was only game #5 for the tonight.

Akron doesn't have a viable PG and that's a problem. And why everyone picked Buffalo to finish 2nd with a first time head coach is beyond me. This is OUr time.

I've kept track of Akron's scores their last few games.  Seems like a strange lineup with Tree, Forsythe, McAdams, Betancourt, and Ibitayo.  So they are bringing Harney, Diggs, and Kretzer off the bench.  From what I can remember, Ibitayo was nothing more than a set shooter.  It's a luxury, I'm sure, to bring Harney and Diggs off the bench, but it seems like a head scratcher to me why one of those guys isn't getting starter minutes.  Tree with 18/11 last night, the other 4 starters only scored 14 points combined.

Was this the radio feed?  If so, Steve French, Ohio alumnus, and not surprising.

Not sure but if it was the radio feed that makes it even worse because they aren't very descriptive with the call.

Speaking of "last few games", they've only played 6 games to this point.  Seems odd to me when most teams have already played ten.

So, it looks like they will go 8 deep which is pretty typical once you get into conference games.  The real question is: how does our top 8 compare with theirs?  Not sure, but it looks like they may have more fire power off the bench?  And, perhaps our starting 5 is a bit better?

Probably going to come down to the two of us in the East again.

They were off for like 3 weeks, with only an exhibition game in the middle.  Something about a team pulling out, and rather than scheduling a non-D1, they moved an exhibition game there.  Besides last night, they play Detroit tomorrow before heading to Honolulu for the Diamond Head Classic this weekend, so they'll catch up pretty quick.
