I got fans in 2 of my seats. Not gonna make it from Muncie Tuesday night as my youngest just Dislocated his patella. Heading to the doc tuesday to see if it needs to be surgically repaired.

As of right now, I'm about 60% convinced to make the drive from Columbus and back on Wednesday.  It'll probably be a "day of" decision for me, depending on if I want to sit in a car for an additional 3+ hours after being at work all day.

Hoping for a good game. Here is our thread on the Ohio game.
Notice that a fan the went to Ohio and roomed in the Convo is rooting for his team UMass.

He wants to be able to buy "day of" rather than "day old" pretzels AND catch the shuttle bus to the game.

Sorry to hear, Borna. Same thing happened to me at basketball practice in the 8th grade. It swelled up unbelieveably but all turned out OK. Hope all goes well for your kid.

I've bitched and bitched about not having name teams on the schedule...while not exactly a name anymore, UMASS is ranked and getting some national mention.  I'll be there for this one.

Dayton
Duquesne
Fordham
George Mason
George Washington
LaSalle
Umass
Rhode Island
Richmond
St. Bonaventure
St. Joseph's
St. Louis
VCU

In any given year, I get excited about maybe 3-4 of those teams. I don't know if A10 automatically means "big game". Dayton? Yes. VCU? Yes. After that - it's very year to year. A lot of teams in there whose glory days are decades ago.

But I'm very excited for Umass! Ranked team is big time.

This date has many things going against it including holiday week, shopping rush, church night, school night, no students, no 110, youth hoops practice nearly every night of the week, etc....

But one thing I've noticed and expect, is that any time Athens gets a name brand opponent of any magnitude, fans show up.  I'm actually a bit embarrassed to promote that it's the first ranked team to come to the Convo since 1997 as it simply highlights the fact that our home schedules are horrific for anyone other than the diehard OHIO fans.  I expect a solid crowd even though the date isn't great and even though UMASS is barely a big namebrand non season ticket holders will get excited about.  Personally, from the home slate, I'm just thankful there's at least "something" to be excited about outside of Akron and maybe Kent State.

Agreed. It's a tough date. I'd expect many season ticket holders already out for the holidays.

And Athens is in full-out "ghost town" mode. Nary a student around. But I do think it will be a pretty solid crowd...there's some decent hype around the game. I like that the athletic department is letting kids of season ticket holders line the tunnel - and they've got Santa there too for those with kids.

The best brand in the house is OHIO. That should be all you need.

I am in +4-6. I would expect a crowd around 8K. The cheap tickets plus all of the holiday promotions surrounding the game will get locals out. Two years ago, there were about 8K for the Marietta game which was midweek during winter break and similar promotions.

First, and most importantly, I'm in +3.

Secondly, I have to disagree with the comment below.  Anyone who follows college basketball looks at the A-10 as a strong conference.  Just a few years ago, they were the, what, 4th or 5th best RPI conference in the country?  This is a big game, and UMass is still a recognizable name.

Thirdly, just having a butt in the seat for this isn't enough.  Having a butt in the seat and cheering lOUd is also part of it.  Lets Go Bobcats!

All good, agreeable points.  (Except for the fact that Akron was ranked last year when they came to town.)

Hopefully I'll be in.  It would be +1, possibly +3 if I can get a couple other students to come with me.  Making plans today.  I'm PUMPED for this game.
