I haven't seen the line but I'm guessing Akron will be favored by 9 or 10.

A battle of our favorite friends, right?

Akron beat the Herd soundly in Huntington last year.  One of those games which Chuck Landon considered "unacceptable."  A loss at home to a MAC team.

Akron opened a 10.5 point favorite.  I was going to head down to this game, but given the weather, I'll prolly pass.

Both are fresh off of getting their clocks cleaned by a mediocre South Carolina team.

This is a really ugly game.  Akron down 8 early and Treadwell heading to the bench after 4 minutes with three fouls but Marshall can't help themselves and lets the Zips back in the game. Halftime score 31-25 Zips.   Our old friend TyQuane Goard with 6 pts and 4 boards for the Herd.   Marshall is still the same undisciplined group they normally are but with much less talent than the last two or three years.  I can't see anyway they don't lose 20.  If you want to laugh take a look at their FT% on the season.  DeVince Boykins is now 4-20 on the season.  Elijah Pittman and Chris Thomas are their two players that get to the line most often and they are a combined 77-147 (52%) on the year.  As a team they are below 60%.  If I were a fan I would be counting down the minutes until Herrion gets fired.

This is Akron's 9th game in 19 days with some considerable travel involved. That might keep the Herd close.

He's exactly who I was thinking of when watching their freshman Canty.   He could be a great player but he won't if Herrion stays his coach.

I watched this entire debacle by webcast tonight.

To quote Jack Buck: "I don't believe what I just SAW. I don't BELIEVE what I just saw!"

Just a few observations:

^ I don't dig the way Akron uses Diggs and what they allow him to do.
^ The ineptitude of Akron over the first five minutes and the last five minutes was breathtaking.
* Agree that Marshall, like in past years, continues to be undisciplined in shot selection, etc.
* Offensive rebounding was the saving grace in tonight's game.
& Canty is very talented. A lot better than Akron's PGs.
& Zip freshman big Isaiah Johnson was impressive tonight. Stepped up when Tree was out with fouls.
* Akron play by play man Steve French constantly second guesses the officials

Only when the call (or no call) goes against Akron.  The two of them are unbearable to listen to.  I would love to know what Akron fans think of them.

You know that French is a Bobcat graduate and does occasionally say nice things about the Bobcats.

I do know that and that's great but it doesn't make him any more listenable.    If I recall he also seemed to be obsessed with hating John Groce.

when they complained about the foul calls they were often completely wrong, its like they didn't see the foul happen but wanted to say it was wrong just because. they were bad.

They like him. My problem with him is the way he talks. He says the last syllable of sentences in a weird way.

The more college hoops play by play teams you listen to, the more you realize the quality of on air talent we have in Russ & Rob.

I felt the same way about listening to UNC Asheville's guys on their webcast.  Everything was "we" when they were referring to the game and the officiating.  I turned off the webcast and turned on Ohio's radio.
