I can only speculate that he killed someone.  That would explain the harshness of Dambrot's punishment.

Will Dambrot ever face anything at all over the recent actions of some of his players?  This is getting a little nuts.  Two years ago, it was Quincy Diggs getting suspended for a year, at the end of last year it was Abreu for drug trafficking, now Harney for "conduct detrimental?" Three years in a row with a basketball player facing long suspensions and/or legal issues.  It's sort of becoming a pattern up there.

We could make it a game and see who can guess who it will be next season.  McAdams for dealing meth?  Kretzer for cruelty to animals?  Betancourt for grand theft auto?

It's funny, I was thinking to myself who on Akron I would take on my team if I had the choice, and Kretzer and Harney were the only ones I can stomach.

Don't forget Treadwell took a couple days off during pre-season practices.

Dambrot's SOP as a MAC coach seems to be to always teeter on the edge of chaos. Maybe he'll drop an unfortunate noun again and we'll be rid of him.

Then again. Akron.

It was conduct detrimental to the team.

He must've gotten a passing grade.

I'd welcome Kretzer or Treadway. Tree is tough.

Big loss for Akron...It is a little startling how consistently Akron players have been getting into trouble over the last few years.

Hopefully for Akron, Dambrot can fix this problem. He's not the only coach in the MAC who has had issues with players getting in trouble. A great football coach named Frank has had issues in the past. Other than the drug charges on two players I don't remember hearing any other off the field problems for the football team this year. So I believe it can be fix, but first Dambrot needs to acknowledge there is a problem with his program.

Yes, we and other football teams have had challenges.  But a difference between football and basketball is numbers.  When you have a little over 10 players on the team (5 starters), having legal/discipline issues every year makes it a more rampant issue.  That said, if anyone thinks Harney won't be back in very short order... then you don't know Akron basketball.

Our basketball team hasn't exactly been immune to this either.  I seem to recall the 2010 team going through a lot of turmoil.  We don't know the story here. Perhaps Harney did something that would only get a meeting in the coaches office in other programs.  And turmoil doesn't seem to be that big of a problem since they are a game ahead of us in the standings.

Suggesting that our football coach, his staff, the team   are less than perfect and have produced less than perfect results such that some change may be needed is not acceptable doctrine.
