Apparently Ghost Charlie is angry, as this is not going well so far.

Check the record:  JC is 1-0 in games at home vs. redhawk in which we're down by 74 eight minutes into the 2nd half.

I thought that was a very classy move on JC's part. I wonder how many in the arena figured out the symbolic meaning. If they made any kind of official announcement about it on the PA I missed it.  I thought there was going to be some kind of public recognition of Charlie.  Did it happen at halftime when I was in the Rohr Room?

I just watched the OhioBobcatTV youtube postgame video. JC spoke about why he wore it. I gotta say, I like JC more than ever after hearing his words.

I loved reading this:

The game was the first ‘Battle of the Bricks’ since the death of Charlie Coles — a former Miami player and long-time RedHawks head coach — last spring. Ohio honored Coles with a pregame video, and Christian paid a personal tribute by wearing a green mock turtleneck instead of a shirt-and-tie. The red mock turtleneck was Coles’ signature wardrobe choice.

Christian said he decided to honor his friend last year, and said he will always wear the garment whenever Ohio and Miami meet on the hardwood as long as he’s the Bobcats’ coach.

“Because (Coles) means so much to this game, the Ohio-Miami rivalry...I just made that choice that I was going to do that,” Christian said. “And I’ll do it every time we play Miami because I don’t want, in my own heart, to not remember Charlie Coles — especially with the Miami-Ohio game.

“I know how big it was for him. There’s probably not a bigger historian of this game...than Charlie Coles, never one who took more pride in this game than Charlie Coles. In my own way, I wanted to honor his memory.”

Nice move.

Charlie after a loss to UK is a classic rant, and showed what he thought about the kids on the floor.

Is that pre game video up anywhere?  I'd like to see it.  We arrived in the arena just shortly after the tip.  We had to park far away and I'm walking just a tad slower with the sprained ankle.  VERY HAPPY TO HEAR ABOUT THE VIDEO.

I saw Jim yesterday evening and congratulated him on the victory and told him that I thought wearing the green turtleneck was a nice gesture.  He really beamed when I said that and thanked me for my comment.  There's a certain genuineness about JC that I'm really starting to appreciate.

Loved the turtleneck, awesome. Video was great too...But would've looked a lot better on a video board larger than some living room TVs.

Agree. A video board up high on each end of the court, against the outside wall. Large enough to see would take of a couple hundred seats out on each end but they are never used. A center hung board would cost way more. Spend the savings on the really big wall mounted ones. Keep ungraded ones at floor level like we have for the time, score and such.
