NDour responds well to BA criticism. He has put up double digit rebounds in all of the last 3 games and he now is at 2 straight 20+ point games.

Watching him and Juice go back and forth was fun.

I'm fully aware that Maurice has probably never read a single word of BA, if in fact he even know it exists. Maybe he has, though he probably hasn't is my guess.  Whatever the case, it appears he somehow got the memo today.  We started the game working the offense exclusively through him, thus = a nice lead.  Lead dwindled when we went away from him and then we went back to the well and ultimately won the game.

I selfishly called Maurice out saying that I thought he had the potential to do even more, even though many of you threw out numbers that made me feel as though I was asking too much from a first year guy.  I feel a lot better today as what we saw today, against a tough opponent, is kind of what I was implying all along.  I've  thought all along he was too unselfish and disappeared all too often--especially in big games.  Mo did not disappear today and he got the ball at the most crucial of times.  This time however, instead of quickly dishing the ball off--Mo took it upon himself and the end result was brilliance.  I thought he was outstanding today.  I thought he was a beast.  I thought he often got the ball in positions where it was 1 on 3 and he willed his way to hoops.  On many plays it was basically get him the ball in the post and just letting him work.  No screens, no cuts, no nothing---just throw in in the post and see what he can do.  Juice was a stud today, but Maurice was the best guy on the court.  My opinion still remains the same, when in doubt, live/die through Maurice.  He's this teams meal ticket and fortunately today the team got the memo.

Check out his "sick" line:
*Led the team in points, offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds, obviously total rebounds, tied for steal, no turnovers and led in blocks =STUD!!!

Still not sure about our rotations and identification of top 8 guys to play.  If TJ doesn't really step it up, I could see OHIO going to 3-biggs at some point with c-bell getting more PT.  In fact, we may need that kind of lineup to beat Akron when they go big.  And, speaking of PT, Bean just lost about half of what he played today with that performance!  3 TO in minimal minutes...

Who didn't like Ndour and ST today?  Were they not exceptional?

From what I understand, the posts on Bobcat Attack were bothering him last week; to the point he wasn't sleeping well - constantly checking the site to see if there were any new posts.  It got so bad, that on Friday he headed to the Convo to meet with Christian.  On the way, he ran into Tyler T who was on the way back from having previewed a new video the Athletic Department had put together to surprise him.  Tyler mentioned that his biggest regret was not listening to BA earlier and more often. "It is amazing how much knowledge a bunch of alumni have about the intricacies of every sport.  Feel the force of the anonymous posters." Tyler told him.  Bolstered by Tyler's advice, Mo made his way to Christian's office.

As he entered, Christian pulled out his phone and showed him a note he had just receive from DJ Cooper. "time to listen to BA.  They may not always have ur back, but you need to take advantage of their insight #needsignaturewin."

Together, Christian and Mo decided it was time to redraw the game plan.  Nicknamed "black seats," the focus was to run everything through Mo, limit Beannie's time and start to use Campbell instead of TJ and Setty.  For the most part it worked.  A notable exception was when Stevie ignored the plan and drove straight to the hoop. "What the F@#k
are you doing" Christian said as the team huddled for a timeout.  "Black seats, black seats,"  he told the team over and over in the huddle.  Even N'Dour could be seen telling Stevie the same thing as he stood next to him during the timeout.

After the game, N'Dour said the team decided to give a game ball in absentia to BA posters.  "It is invaluable to have the input from a bunch of guys who, for the most part, never played the game at a high level either this century or last.  The perspective they can bring from watching us is critical to our success."

N'Dour then chuckled and said something in Japanese - but no one was there to translate his statement.

My post started by saying Maurice had probably never read BA, but every once in a while stupid fans such as myself figure things out even quicker than high paid coaches and student athletes.  Bottom line, if Maurice produces another 9 total shot attempt performance in this game, or any game against top tier competition--I don't like our chances.  We're too limited and he's too good.  Toledo is about as good/athletic a team as we're going to be playing the rest of the way and they simply did not have an answer for him.  Granted it certainly helped that we got some balance and some inside/out from Stevie/Nick--but this team is only going as far as Maurice takes it.  He must be as active and aggressive as he was vs Toledo for us to have a chance.  Even "dumb fan me" can figure that out and glad our players/coaches figured that out Saturday.

He's a true student-athlete. Dude has class, school is important to him, and he plays with all his heart.

That's very, very cool and will stick with that kid for a lifetime.   I also loved his reaction on the Stevie to Jon Smith dunk.  Hard not to like the guy.

Don't need other reasons to like him, but this certainly confirms everything I've come to understand about this young scholar-athlete.  I remember in one of the first games I saw him play in -- might have been the first regular season game -- when he very kindly pulled an opponent up off the deck. That one gesture and the kindly look he had on his face as he did it started my "Man Crush" on N'dour.  He very quickly became one of my favorite Bobcats of all time.  To put him in the proper pantheon, I'm talking about greats like Bill Whaley, Larry Kruger, Mike Haley, Don Hilt, Gary Trent and DJ Cooper -- just to name a few.  For a number of reasons Mike Haley is probably my all-time favorite Ohio player, but N'dour is not far behind.

On a related note, I've been thinking for several weeks that this year's team reminds me of a past team.  Yesterday, it dawned on me what team it was.  My memory is going back to the early 1960s, when I was still in high school.  It was the team with the aforementioned Whaley, Kruger as well as Bunk Adams and a few others whose names are not coming back to me at the moment.  These guys consistently got themselves in big holes and then came back to win in the final moments of games.  It was a pattern through the whole season.  It was the first time I heard the expression "Cardiac Cats."  Well, it looks like we are living in those times again!  GO OHIO!

He was spending time with a young kid in the background of the Toledo video too.

N'Dour should be a contender for MAC player of the year next year. Big man who can go inside/outside, rebound, block ,shots. He has done a decent job of avoiding foul trouble. He fits foul shots which is gold in the MAC for a big man.  Bobcats can just feed him the ball and let him parade to the line all nite long. He is one of the complete forwards we have had.
