Unless I'm wrong, we made our run in the 2nd half from the 7 minute mark on when McCrea was on the bench in foul trouble and it seamed they lost some confidence at that point.
Great win considering it's a road win and we were not at full strength.
Not to mention it was really a must win or face being further behind the conference leaders.

GO BOBCATS

McCrea picked up his 4th foul at at the 5:32 mark with Buffalo leading 63-60. He returned at 3:41 with Ohio leading 67-65.

They weren't calling fouls on McCrea in the first half -- I think his first foul came sometime around the 18 min mark of the 2nd half.  It made a difference when they started whistling him.

good recognition by the team and coaching staff after letting UB get up by 9 several times to finally let them get a double digit lead so the double digit deficit eraser mojo could kick and we could win. That was our problem at Toledo, only got down by 9.

Are their fans chanting USA towards Maurice? - classy

Unfortunately our fans did the same embarrassing chant in Cleveland for 2005's final for one of Buffalo's players.
I am watching the Ohio A&M game at Illinois and the Ilini student section is chanting "USA" every time Della Valle touches the ball. It's a stupid cheer that a lot of student sections do to try and get into some one's head. I personally wouldn't join in on such a lame cheer but I am not going to lose any sleep over it.

PS... I am only watching to root against OSU. Didn't want anyone to think I am a closeted A&M fan.

I celebrated today's smashing of Beefs by going to FatBurger.  I think that they only exist in southern California.  Which is a shame.  There's nothing like a Fat.

Bobcat victory and a Fat = very good day.

It was for Yassin Idbihi in that game. I remember standing in that OZone section, cringing and hoping we were so far from the court that no one could hear that stupid chant.

I remember them doing it when KVK was on the court. Brainless.

Former Bengal Willie Anderson used to have a small chain of them here in Cincinnati but they only lasted a few years.

They were good burgers.

I'm glad I decided to drive up for the game.  That was fun. It reminded me a lot of last years 3 point win up there. A few observations:
  • Campbell. It was great to see him bounce back.  After some bad fouls and missing the front end of a one and one in the second half, he played big in the paint.  I didn't think everything Smith was whistled for should have been called, but if he doesn't foul out, Campbell probably isn't on the floor to score those last 6 points.
  • Jon Smith. 8 points and 9 boards in only 19 foul plagued minutes.
  • Bean. At times he seemed way too tentative bringing the ball up. However he did exactly what we needed.  9 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and only 2 turnovers in 38 minutes. Glad to see him step up when we needed him.
  • TJ seemed to hurt himself on a chase down block, disappearing from the bench for a bit after.  Hope it's nothing serious.
  • Seemed like Christian worked the officials more today than normal.  It seemed like he was asking why it was a foul on one end but not the other a lot. He always did it during a stoppage or to the ref in front of the bench though.
  • Hurley on the other hand... If that's how he acts every game, I'm surprised he doesn't get more Ts.  It seemed like he was yelling at the refs constantly from across the court (even when they were getting the whistles in the first half). I counted at least three times an assistant had to pull him back into the huddle.
  • Buffalo made some nice plays to run the lead to ten, but we certainly helped with some lazy passes that lead to dunks.
  • How many times were we able to run the back cut for a layup in the second half?

The O zone is going to have a fun time jeering Hurley when we host UB. He will be the next Dan Dakich in terms of court demeanor.

Pretty fun game to attend. Alumni Arena feels like a big time place at least on the side opposite the benches. I didn't venture over to the other side. They have a great sound system, lighting, and video board. The crowd, though big, was laaaaaaaame. Their student section was pretty full, but only about 10% were up and rowdy. I think their pep band played only twice the whole game. Not nearly as many Ohio fans as I thought would be there, but a few people complimented my wife and I for making the trip and said we were good fans (I got pretty loud on a few occasions surrounded entirely by UB fans).

They opened one by me in Mayfield (east of Cleveland). It seemed to do really well for a year or so... Until they opened a 5 Guys on the same block.  The Fat Burger closed down probably two months later.  It's funny to see the old fat burger space now being occupied by a restraint specializing in salads.

Agreed on the crowd.  I've sat in the section right behind the Ohio bench for the last two years there and the student section was about 1/4 of what it was last year. I think I counted 30 students actually standing and cheering. They also moved the band to the section adjacent to the Ohio bench.  That was full of students last year.

I enjoy reading other fan forums if for nothing else, to get the opposition perspective. I decided to visit the UB fan board and its very obvious they absolutely hate Ohio. Who do the UB fans consider to be their biggest rivals? I never thought of the possibility of it being Ohio. If Ohio is UB's biggest rival I am assuming it started back in 2005.

Btw, their fans seem to think Ohio has the most classless fans in the conference while at the same time saying Ohio fans are nothing but a bunch of inbreeds. Hilarious if you ask me.

They're probably bitter about losing to Ohio seven times in a row.

The Buffalo fans I met yesterday were awfully complimentary, almost envious, of the Ohio fanbase based on the numbers and volume we have in Cleveland.

Yeah that's what they say to your face......like on the way home from the wife's family reunion in WV....."why yes honey....your relatives are wonderful humans, lovely lovely folk". You are NOT going to tell her what you really think.
