We really don't hit 3s. No inside game.
We have to be one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the country. But here we are bricking 30 a game.
When you don't have a starting center because you whiffed on the portal.

That and Sharp is the best player on the floor. We could use a guy of his caliber to take over a game on both ends of the court.

This does not bode well for road games in the MAC vs similar teams.
We choose not to have an inside game. Feed Clayton and Hadaway more instead of settling for the 3.

Very little effort. No energy. No offensive flow. This has been a rough team to watch. We will get jacked against Davidson and stumble into MAC play.

I doubt we end up top three in the Mac this year.

Missed layups. A mystery flagrant foul. This is a .500 team because it's a .500 team, the record says exactly what the team is. It will go .500 in the MAC and end up .500 overall for the season.

Mitchell/James/Brown a combined 2-11 from deep. 18%

Brutal how much Boals kept Clayton and Captain Chaos out of the game in the last seven minutes. I guess he enjoyed watching Miles Brown throw up bricks all night.

We're just not talented enough this year, and don't have enough size.

Still waiting for the season opener version of this team to reappear. I thought our non-conference schedule was more challenging than most on here; but definitely didn’t see us being a lucky break away against Delaware from being below .500.

We have a lot of talent (if used correctly), but I’m unsure of what this team is trying to be.

There's two obvious reasons why this team is struggling. It comes down to 3-point shooting and defense. We're 202nd in 3-pt shooting efficiency and 230th in adjusted defensive efficiency.

This team is playing average basketball right now. I doubt their defense will dramatically improve due to their lack of size but their shot selection can certainly get better which can lead to improved offensive efficiency.

This team has talent. I have always believed that and still do. The MAC has just five programs in the top 200 of KenPom. The Bobcats are going to be competitive in conference play and it'll come down to Cleveland like it does most years.

Boals coached horrendously tonight. Clayton and Hadaway can be enough of a tandem down low off pick and rolls.

The non-conference schedule has been more difficult than many posters including myself thought before the season. The Marshall loss was the only stunning result in my opinion.

Cleveland State and Austin Peay were toss-ups on the road that I would've liked to see us win but went down to the wire and lost.

George Washington was a back-and-forth game that free throws doomed us in a 2OT loss.

We were outplayed against Youngstown State at home which is disappointing but they have talent.

Ohio has 5 losses by a combined total of 24 points. This team isn't as far away as some are alluding to but it's also troubling that they're struggling to find their identity against similarly skilled opponents.

It's incredible how truly awful the conference is this year from top to bottom.

Yep and it's only going to continue to get worse. Small towns in the Midwest don't generate enough eyeballs or revenue to pay the salaries required to compete.

Urban conferences like the Horizon are much better positioned for future $$$ and success.

Question for greencat or other BA posters from Tennessee: did the ESPN+ announcer think OUr team is led by Coach Boyles or is that just how the local accent makes it sound like?

Yea, I agree with this. Especially the last part. It’s more concerning with how we’re losing than actually losing after a completing a non-conference slate. This team has no identity and isn’t playing to its strengths.

I’m beating a dead horse on the Troy game; but I have no idea why we haven’t played that type of ball since. That brand works for this roster construction and personnel.

Get back to prioritizing cutting/slashing with EJ4 and AJB (when healthy), turn defense into offense, fast temp, and play more selfless ball. Add in more pick and rolls, don’t force the 3. We know Jaylin and Shereef can score; but I hope Boals separates them and challenges them about facilitation. We need that from them. Hadaway led us with 5 assists last night and that just can’t be.

We rank 174th in the nation for assists. For a team built on guards that number is putrid and it shows in our offense (or lack thereof).

Our offense has no mission statement. That was tough to watch. 80% FT shooting was all that kept us in this game. Gabe was great tonight, though!

I heard him say that but not even sure who the guy is that said it. While Clarksville is a fast growing area and the influx of new people will mean less old school yokels who talk like that, obviously some still exist. In Davidson County (Nashville) and the surrounding area (Williamson/Wilson/Sumner/Rutherford) people who talk "southern" have become few and far between.

Take "nurk-aha" for example in Ohio. There are newcomers to Newark who didn't even know about that pejorative nickname for the town.

**If Athens ever gets a Waffle House, I reserve the right to order a "pee-can" waffle. (And I will still pronounce it that way)

Let's take a look at Davidson.

(assuming IJ will never see the floor again in Bobcat green until otherwise)

Davidson is 9-3 with two wins over "the blind school" type opposition. They played two p5 opponents and beat one (Maryland). Their current 6 game win streak includes a blow-out win over Fiami. Their best player (Skogman, 6-10 forward) is shooting 41% from three. Not a good matchup for us. Kochera (6-5 guard) is also hitting over 40% from deep. Unless players like that have an off day, we have little to no chance in this game.

We have guards that can dribble all night long, but can’t make the good pass to get an assist. On top of that none of them shoots the three consistently. Look at how many wide open threes we missed. Combine that with our lack of size and it’s the recipe for a long year.
