Doesn’t matter…up 10…down 30…we make a bucket and we are flexing on our opponent. One of the most unlikeable teams in Ohio basketball history. Season can’t end soon enough.

And this gem from Captain Chaos in the Toledo post-game presser. Courtesy Grant Kiefer Twitter page.

Aidan Hadaway: "That team's not better than us...when they see they're playing the Bobcats, they just play to the best of their ability."

"They foul every possession...good for them."

_______

FearLeon checks stats.

Jeff Boals 1-13 against Tod K.

In what world is Ohio better than Toledo?

This team has been immature all year. Lack of discipline and accountability. Well done Jeff and staff. I take back what I said. The 2025-2026 Ohio Bobcats squad is not one of the most unlikeable teams in Ohio basketball history, it is the most unlikeable team in Ohio basketball history.

Where were you during the Billy Hahn era? I agree that this team is eminently unlikeable, but Hahn had some teams that brought shame to the uniform.

I don't know what team you were watching when Billy Han was the coach, but the team was not unlikeable. Not a very good record, but not unlikeable...
They even went to the MAC Championship game in 1988.

Oh the Billy Hahn years! Billy got the job after Nee left for Nebraska. Hahn was not a great head coach, but one of the best recruiters in the game. He could recruit! Ask Gary Williams about Billy Hahn. Williams will tell everyone that Hahn played a huge part in the national title Maryland won in 2002. Sone people are not cut out to be head coaches, but are fantastic assistants.

Or Huggy Bear. Hahn was his lead recruiter at WVU for years.

I actually felt like this was one of the better officiated games of the season. There were a few instances I felt like they were allowed to get too physical with us, but not much over the top.

The bigger issue is that our team didn't show up for the first 15 minutes of the game, and didn't rebound for much of any of it.

1988-89 team was loaded with talent but finished next-to-last (above Miami) in the league. Absolute circus on the court, with 6-11 freshman center John Beaufort as the ringmaster. Beauford was huge and could have dominated the lane but loved to jack up three-pointers. After a game against Akron, a Beacon Journal columnist (perhaps Terry Pluto?) wrote that he'd never seen a college coach less capable of managing his team. Hahn was screaming at the refs, throwing his suit coat, tearing at his shirt tail and sweating up a storm from opening tip to final buzzer. After a game at Kent, a KSU fan approached me and said "I'd be embarrassed to root for a team like that." Hahn was fired at the end of the season and Beauford was sent packing.

Across 80 minutes, a team that we're better than beat us 180-152.

They are a lot better than us. You see it with your eyes, you see it in the numbers, and on the scoreboard.

This really does perfectly summarize this team and the team's leadership. We think we're much, much better than we are.

We're lucky we had Simmons yesterday. He kept us in the game. If he leaves this off-season, next year is going to be dark.

I've noted the vast difference between Ohio and opposing teams throughout the season. Most other teams, especially Miami and Toledo, are very workmanlike on the court, focusing on their individual roles and avoiding drama. Meanwhile, our guys are jawing with opposing players (and bench) and complaining to the refs (like our coach) after almost every play.

Very telling comments from our side during the postgame press conference. Hadaway and Boals lamented the fact that Toledo got so many second-chance points. "They don't do that; that's not who they are," Hadaway said. Boals: "They're normally not good on the offensive boards." As though our own failures didn't make it possible and the refs should give us the win based on past statistics. This must be the crap our coaches are spewing in the locker room. ZERO accountability.

Exactly. And half our fanbase wants to give Boals a pass because of money and a lack of facilities.

But Boals doesn't coach the players he has well. We are much more talented than the results show. He doesn't get enough out of his teams, and has built a whiny, annoying, egotistical culture.

I know the same group of us are beating a dead horse on the subject matter, but I really hope this to be true.

Bearing a million dollar donation and unrealistic portal class, what’s to be excited about next season with a Boals return?

At least the newness of a different regime creates intrigue.

I really don't think Boals is going anywhere until the contract is up. Maybe the president can plant some whiskey in his desk to get the ball rolling.

I counted seven flexes tonight from Simmons at UMASS…including three flexes on one play.

Dude leads the country in flexes.

Ohio lost by twelve.

This is a very nice addition to Jeff’s 2025-2026 recruiting class. This dude is going to fit in perfectly with the present culture and personality of the program.

This is tame compared to the crap our current guys pull. I will say, we held it together better versus Fiami.

Final play of his Bobcat career is getting a “T” to foul out.

Fitting end for Captain Chaos.

Well done Coach Boals and staff on fixing that attitude over four years.

The most unlikeable team in Ohio basketball history.
