Free Leon, couldn’t agree more. This is one bad team. Ball State and Northern Illinois and we’re having a tough time with them?
Somebody years from now needs to a case study on Jeff Boals infatuation with Sheldon.

32 minutes
5 points
0 assists
3 turnovers

Make it make sense.

What does Sheldon have on Boals and is Fisher this bad where he can’t get any of his minutes?
I corrected your stats above. Those of you who continue to question Sheldon's minutes I'm guessing didn't play ball beyond 5th grade. I totally get why Boals plays him 30+ minutes per game.
Oh my god! He scored 2 more points than Leon typed. Holy cow! Hand him an All MAC card.

Please, by all means, tell us why Sheldon continues to get minutes. I'm not certain I need to say how long I played basketball, but I'd love to hear your reasoning. His advanced stats, eyeball test and athleticism tell me a different story. But please, please oh wise one. Tell us.

Sheldon does a handful of things well enough. But he's only a 30+ minute guy because Boals hasn't been able to build rosters with enough depth to rely on the bench in a meaningful way.

Terrible game awareness and discipline by the seniors late in the game. We are short handled and we get t-d up twice. Boals has lost control of this team. Way too many Tech fouls. We are a bunch of undisciplined cry babies. A terrible look. Every game we get t-d up or some scuffle goes down. These guys have fire, but pick bad times to come undone. Refs have to think we are a team of headcases. Time for the seniors to lead this team.
Our senior captain is the lead head case. Nobody faces consequences for anything on court. It's chaos top to bottom.

Frankly, it's too late to expect change.

My spouse last night: "Wow, we're up 11 and it's still painful to watch. What is wrong with this team?"

I might add that the announcing team (although I like Rob; not so much Marty) and embarrassing production values (zero ambient sound, etc.) don't help.

I agree on Hadaway and believe his immaturity has infected Simmons and others. It doesn't happen often, but if I see Sheldon's post-three guitar riff one more time, I'm going to hurl.

Those that were near the situation claim Northern Illinois heard one thing (a big one), but nobody else in the section (or around the section) said they heard that.

Really hope it wasn't said.

I do think Northern Illinois coach at the end showed a lack of maturity by engaging with the band as he exited the court. No matter what, as a coach, you have to set the tone and lead by example. If something is said, by all means have that person ejected, but to escalate the situation is not the right thing to do.

Those of you who continue to defend Sheldon's minutes I'm guessing didn't take a math class beyond 5th grade.

To put how bad Greenlight Sheldon is into perspective...

There are 1,153 players who average at least 25.0 minutes per game.

The BOTTOM 10% shoot an average of 36% from the field.

Greenlight Sheldon: 35.6%

If you're really into pain, filter down to just people who shoot at least 6 shots a game...

No snark. No jokes. Fact: Sheldon is one of the worst 35 players - by shooting percentage - in the entire country.

His defensive rating (according to sportsreference.com) is 7th - on THIS TEAM. His turnover % per 100 plays is #1 with 17.5. His player efficiency rating is NINE.

So for those who continue to question Sheldon's minutes and possibly didn't play ball beyond 5th grade, why do you totally get why Boals plays him 30+ minutes per game?

Mind boggling stats here MDWST. Great research.

Yeah I noticed this after the late T. I would expect a coach to sit a player down and rake them over the coals, but literally nothing happened. They all just went back to the huddle like it was just another timeout.

Statement from the 110:

“Long story short a player said a band member said something (that they most definitely DID NOT say) and their coaches had a member escorted out.”

I also heard from a mother of a 110 member the same thing. The band member was very confused on why the player went off and what he thought he heard.

The late T was on Connors rather than Hadaway. It would have been his second technical, resulting in disqualification.

BTW, Don Wood Toyota recently sponsored a video in which players were asked to identify their goals for the balance of the season. Hadaway said, "No more technicals," so clearly Boals has discussed it with him. Further, during last night's postgame briefing, Hadaway commented that he's supposed to show leadership by avoiding outbursts, etc.

Connors 3 triples were the difference in the game.

Without them, this becomes a really bad home loss.

I figured it was exactly this the moment I saw it. They took the 110 member under the tunnel and I saw him standing there talking to security quite upset. Idiotic of the NIU coaches to think he said that while no one around him substantiates it.

Just add it to the heaping pile of similar hoaxes over the years.

That was a bad win. Part of it was NIU just continuing to hit 3s enough to claw back into it, but a lot of it was dumb turnovers and just not finishing out enough possessions. Thought we passed up a lot of good chances last night, one time even unnecessarily passing our way into a shot clock violation. Tough night for Jalen, some rough calls against him.

We need to run more thru JJ. I won't dispute Pavs is our leader but JJ makes things happen. I have heard the concerns over his defense and tried to key in on him and judge that...maybe I am blinded by my man crush but I don't see it. He may over-pursue and chase a little too much at times but he has a lot of energy and effort, his instincts will improve but I think he is already average and not a liability. In summary, JJ Kelly is awesome.

I think we have no choice but to play Conners more and get him more shots. He is the only guy you feel good about making a 3 when he gets open. He doesn't hurt us in other areas of the game. Everyone dumped on this kid and gave up on him way too early.

Hadaway got mouthy on the bench at one point, I think he said "ballsy" a few times I think regarding who was on the floor when he was not. I couldn't quite make sense of what his gripe was but I enjoy trying to decode these interactions from behind the bench. I also love watching the handshake line because you never know what might happen, and it was a weird one last night. #23 Jalen Wharton, who is in his first year of D1 basketball after 2 years of JUCO, and played only 4 minutes, got mouthy with Javan Simmons, who of course did not even play. Zay Mosley (or maybe it was Carter Reese?) happened to be right next to Simmons and got pretty fiery with Wharton. It escalated quickly as others separated them. Simmons stayed calm and a peacekeeper. I can't even remotely imagine what that interaction was about.

Anyway, we survived but it was another disappointing performance following the real shitty Ball State game and underwhelming Toledo game. Things have taken a turn for the worse, we need to right the ship Friday.

I did not see this, but - Mosley does not dress in team uniform, is closer to Simmons in height and has long hair that is pulled back. Reese does dress every game and is closer to Pav in height.

Believe the Ref had the guy ejected for inappropriate remarks made directly to the ref during/following the set-to in front of the band.

if it was the ref, I feel like he would have been gone sooner... it was Valentine who was complaining to the ref about the particular band member so I assumed it was something later reviewed but I'm just going based on what I saw on TV. I assumed that perhaps he had interfered with play or the player himself in some way. I know attendance isn't what it used to be, but the band should be over on the baseline and not in the student section.
