Five minutes proved it--bench N'Dour and Kellogg!

Perhaps Wilkins feels like he needs to score when Nick isn't around--haven't seen him shoot off the screen as often as he did the last few minutes.

Go Bobcats!

Who wants it more? This is an opportunity both teams need to take advantage of. Both teams can throw in the towel if they want to. Who wants to keep fighting?

I think it's pretty clear. One team came to compete and one team did not. The score is reflecting that.

Except for, of course, a potential one in Cleveland 3 weeks from today.  Let's not get carried away, though.  This win was great fun & this team has been great fun.  RESILIENT

Stuff:  Bean six assists; he moved the ball well.  Mo only 9 and 1 according to the box score.  They shot 25 free throws; we shot six.

I'm impressed with Bean's unselfishness. Lets other guys bring the ball up the court and really moves the ball at a nice pace. If he can drive to the hoop sort of like he did yesterday, now we're talking.

That crossover was really nice. I hope that's a sign of things to come. Love slashing guards.

Did anyone notice Quincy Diggs being a comple thug tool at the end of the game last night while the Cats were running out the clock?  He gave shots from behind to Wilkins, Kellogg and Smith.  I'm guessing Dambrot wished he gave that much effort on the defensive end last night.

You better be careful with this wordage (although I agree completely).  It seemed to get many riled up last night in the chat.

But yes, I saw exactly what you're referring to.  He fouled (Travis, I believe?) with 2.4 seconds left when we were up 16, and then ripped the ball out of Jon's hands after the buzzer went off.  He certainly took the long way off the court, attempting to instigate something with anyone & everyone in his path.

Again, Akron never fails to show its lack of class.

Got to be careful Van.

Even though we understand that a thug is a color blind term applied to anyone of any race acting in a certain manner .....many folks contend that us white middle class overweight balding guys (no racism there eh?) interchange thug for the N word. SInce that view is gaiining traction despite our assertion that the word thug is a character, personality and behaviour based term we are being told not to use it because such usage makes us racists.

That is a gross misrepresentation of what we were saying. If I did that to you, you'd flip.

For the record, I was using the word thug in the Webster dictionary definition.   The Bobcats had the class to pull the ball out and not try score anymore and he tries to take the ball away from Kellogg (which I didn't have a huge problem with).  After knocking it away from Kellogg he battles with Nick for the ball in the backcourt. Nick gets it and passes it to Wilkins and Diggs fouls him with less than 3 seconds to play.  When the ball is inbounded to Nick, Diggs hammers him on the shoulder from behind.  Nick flips it to Jon Smith and Diggs does the same thing to him after the buzzer.  You can see Nick looking at the Akron coaches as if to say "WTF?"

He was acting like: "Thug, a common criminal, who treats others violently and roughly."  Everything is not racist.

Playing gotcha with the dictionary isn't the most nuanced way of treating other human beings.

The word has baggage. Accept that and accept that if you use it, you might not get a positive reaction.

I wouldn't call someone a thug to their face unless they'd committed an actual crime. If I used it in print about a basketball player about on-court behavior (excepting criminal activity), I'd expect to be fired.

And consider the comapny. Skip Bayless, Colin Cowherd. Two guys who pepper their speech with the word. Both buffoons. Wilbon uses it. He's become a buffoon over the last decade.

I'm sorry but I refuse to stop using words in their correct context just because somebody wants to be offended by what it could be used as.  My comments were clearly used in describing Diggs behavior which was thuggish.  It had nothing to do with his ethnicity, culture or how he chooses to dress (for the record I have no idea how Quincy Diggs dresses other than his Zips uniform).   I refuse to bend over for the sector of our population that is dying to be offended so they can play the victim.  And that applies to all races, genders, ages, etc.

Have I ever mentioned how offended I am by the word "townie?" We need to cut that one out of the local vernacular, too.  You non-Athenians are so judgmental towards locals, like myself.  Every time I hear it, a little part of me dies inside.

(Yep, there was sarcasm up there)

Let's just say that Mister Diggs was acting in a manner not befitting his status as a student/athlete.
