Forgive me for not jumping off the "Bader is a little beotch" bandwagon. Since I watched him getting through screens by grabbing jersies in multiple Horizon league games and again when they played us with him as a frosh and a soph , nailing guys in the nutzz on rebounds and employing similar antics all the skills he possesses and exhibits are overshadowed by his actions on the court. I have oft remarked that he would not last a quarter at the local park. Those boys would have lined up to beat the snot out of him.
In this vid h clearly is not set and is falling backwards before the defender even gets there....now anyone who knows me knows I love a good charge taken but this is a cheap shot and for all those guys who give up their body and take a good hard charge to the chest ......well this is another cheap move that lessens the chance of a real charge taken getting called. Should have been a block if anything was called at all.
In a frame by frame the defender is at the lane line and Baders left foot is still in the air. He slides in and barely gets his foot down before the contact. The defender is leaning into the run, Bader never gets straightened and in postion (he is still leaning back) before he starts falling . If the defender was on offense this year, that,, under the new rules would have clearly been a called block.
Good for coach and good for them for the inventive strategy. Good for Bader for getting it sold...bad for refs and hoops that the ploy did not get past an overzealous whistle blower. Still a little Beotch. *IMHO*. Gives more fodder for those folks who want the Charge rule abolished.
