Good D by Bean--no way was that last Miami move to the hoop a foul.

Congrats to NICK for 333333333333333333333333333333333333333333!

SUPER      WIN

Glad to see that N'dour's back seems to doing well.  He appeared to get stronger as the game went on.

Nick's 3-pter that wasn't would've been one of the ESPN top 10 if it had counted.  It still might be.

Lovin Campbell's play more every game.  The guy will be a monster next season.

Now let's beat the Cardinewas.

Obviously I am biased, but I swear Nick's heel was off the ground when he released that shot. Also does anyone have a link for Miami's version of the rivalry video? I want to compare it to ours.

Just back home in cincy after the game and din din.  Some observations:

The Miami-OU rivalry video on the scoreboard was nice...although I hated that damn TT sack from two years ago!  And the scoreboard is really nice too.

JC wore the green turtle neck.

Campbell is a monster in the lane, big and pretty physical and when he gets a rebound he gets a rebound.  And, nice 3/4 court pass ndour to get the tie bucket started.

Bean with that three from 30 feet out...no no no no, oh,  great shot!

Setty hitting the boards and seeing the mismatch at the end to take the smaller defender down the lane for a lay in.  He is intense!

Ndour, ok a monster in half two...seriously, he did not seem to want to be in the post.  He has great ball handling and shooting ability.  I still say the guy could play three (if we ever went with three biggs) and give opponents fits (and us a huge front line).  This gets back to JC recruiting more biggs!  And, speaking of backs...not sure why you start campbell if ndour is 100%?  Then play Ndour a bunch?  I guess just getting the most of what he could give you? But would resting him the whole game have been better?  dunno...

As for Jon, Nic Wilkins just plain solid smart play..mostly.  But did nic disappear in the second half until the end of the game?  And did wilkins have a tuff shooting night but he does lots of other things so well.

Nice post Casper.

I agree Ndour could easily play the 3. Seriously think of him taking the spot Ric and TJ have for a number of years. Decent putting the ball on the deck. Can hit the 3 and crash boards. Backside oops and stretch the defense ....not too hard to imagine. Couple of bigs down low to throw to and play inside out...

What did Fiami do? Did they steal the rivalry video?

Setty is NOT the wasted scholly many threads allude to..

Campbell is doing good things ...my favorite part of his game is passing. HE sees the floor and has wrist strength that delivers the ball with little effort.

Nick is the new MAC king of 3. Lets keep playing deep and keep him hitting 3 s

As discussed in another thread, LOVE Cambell's outlet passes.  His rebounds are double pleasures as he gets us possession and then immediately pivots with the ball high to find the outlet.  His line drive bullet to Mo with the game on the line was a pass of beauty, and I give tons of credit to JC for the call.  My son and I had just discussed what might be coming, especially after this week's thread of the Oakland finish and Borna's contribution of another play.  JC went a totally different route and it was perfection.

We were heckled as we made the walk of victory to High Street for beverages after the game.

Granted, they were asking who won the game. At least the rivalry isn't dead. Just Miami athletics.

The travel call against NDOUR with 2ish to play had me boiling inside.
He played limited minutes and still managed to make a major impact. His drive to tie the game was a thing of beauty!

Another great showing from Bean. The silver lining of Stevie going down is that it has given Bean the playing time he needed to find his game. That'll be huge when Stevie gets healthy. If we can get both playing well at the same time, we are gonna be tough.

Campbell is really becoming a force offensively. Can you imagine what another year of development is going to do to his game!? Defensively he frustrates me a bit. He doesn't have the length of NDOUR or Smith so when guys drive on him layups seem a lot easier to come by as opposed to getting a block. On the flip side, he really uses his body well to establish positioning for rebounds. His ability to box out reminds me of KVK. I love it.

My computer keeps auto-correcting NDOUR to all caps. I kinda like it...

Regarding NDOUR at the 3, I noticed that we were playing a 2-3 zone for awhile with Campbell in the middle and NDOUR and Smith out on the outsides. I like that a lot. I think NDOUR is more of a 3 when playing in a zone system like that. Man-to-man, he is certainly athletic but getting matched up against smaller guys I don't know that he has the agility... Although if the do get around him he can always just block there shots as they go to the basket!

I don't like discussing next year with this year alive and kicking, but that got me thinking about playing the 2-3 zone next year with Mo, Campbell and possibly Tariq Owens. Defensively, the length of Mo and Tariq on the edges could truly make us swat city. Offensively, very few teams have rotations capable of matching up with 3 guys with that kinda size.

After watching highlights this morning, two thoughts on the sequence at the end of regulation:

1. That pass from Campbell to Ndour on the game-tying play was unbelievable. How many players do you trust to throw a 3/4-court baseball pass through traffic with the game on the line? Campbell tossed a strike. Awesome.

2. Christian's reaction to Nick's steal/3-pointer was Jim Valvano-esque. Too bad the basket was waived off.

News flash to Coach Cooper:

In that situation I believe you want the ball to be inbounded in the back court so that your opponent has the length of the court to go.  And, I believe you guard the inbounds passer with your tallest player so the opponent cannot get an open pass straight into the forecourt.  I think this would be basketball 101 or did I miss that class?

If Nick's 3 pointer would have stood, that would have been hands down the best way to insert daggers into your rival. They thought they had it won, and pure hustle nearly stole it away from them at that moment. After their weak-ass attempt at duplicating Evan's video & showing the Tett sack, serves them right :)

Quality is bad on this, but we got to see this last night after the Bobcats victory. Talk about a couple wild & awesome finishes. Definitely a solid Saturday.
