There was a similar thread on the football board prior to the start of the season. So let's hear it - what are your bold predictions for the upcoming basketball season?

Bold player prediction: Jon Smith will win MAC Defensive Player of the Year
Bold team prediction: Our players will combine for at least 20 double-doubles and there will be one triple-double.
Bold conference prediction: I've got a few. 1) Toledo sweeps their games against the West but wins no more than three games against the East 2) Western Michigan finishes within 2 games of .500, prompting administration to finally let him go. 3) Ball State wins 50% more games than they did last year and James Whitford wins COTY.
Bold national prediction: Andrew Wiggins returns to Kansas for his sophomore year.

Bold national prediction: College hoops will gain massive popularity as the New Big East shines on TV.

Bold team prediction: This team is stacked.  NCAA 2nd round.

Bold conference prediction: Akron will finish 4th in MAC East.

Bold national prediction: Nat'l Championship game gets higher tv ratings than BCS championship game (for first time?)

Bold player prediction: Maurice Ndour will be 1st team all MAC. I got a chance to check out a game when he was at Monroe, and he's a physical beast with a ton of talent.
Bold team prediction: Taylor and Willis will be on the floor together a lot in crunch time.
Bold conference prediction: Buffalo wins the MAC Tournament, gets soundly beaten in the NCAAs.
Bold national prediction: Harvard to the Elite 8.

Bold Team Prediction: Ohio will sweep Akron in the regular season

Bold Conference Prediction: Akron will start the year 1-3, losing all three road games

Bold National Prediction: Duke will win the national title (not so bold, but it seems like they are being overshadowed by UK, MSU, and Louisville right now)

Bold team prediction: Ohio will surpass last years team in PPG and Points Allowed

Bold conference prediction: Akron will slip up in conference play, forced to play at home in the first round, and lose to NIU.

Bold national prediction: Ohio State will change their name to the Fightin' Aaron Craft's... But really a Big Ten team won't make it into the Elite 8.

Bold team prediction:  10-8 MAC record at best.  (I think we struggle this year.)

Bold conference prediction:  Akron goes undefeated in MAC play.

Bold national prediction:  NCAA tourney ratings decrease

It will be funny to look back and see how ridiculously wrong a lot of these are, probably headlined by mine.

Bold player prediction:  Wadley Mompremier will be good with more playing time than expected.
Bold team prediction:  Lead the league in personal fouls committed.
Bold conference prediction:  Akron and Ohio will run away with #1 and #2 again.
Bold national prediction:  I will continue to live in my MAC bubble and know very little about the national game.
BobcatAttack prediction:  OCF will declare it basketball season earlier than usual.

Bold player prediction:  Stevie Taylor will be bitten by a radioactive spider at Clippinger Hall and lead the conference in dunks and blocked shots
Bold team prediction:  Coach Christian will add a walk-on forward named Devin Oates. He will pair with T.J. Hall to form an unstoppable frontcourt combo of Hall & Oates (watch out boys, they'll chew you up)
Bold conference prediction:  In order to make the officiating crew more respectable, the MAC will hire workers from Footlocker to officiate games 
Bold national prediction: Freak snowstorm hits areas of the country, delaying the NCAA tourney. Ironically, the snowstorm is named O'Shea by the Weather Channel.
BobcatAttack prediction:  giacomo will eat his typical ham and Velveeta cheese sandwich for lunch (on Wonder bread)

Bold Prediction:  Defence steps up and leads the league
Bold Prediction:  Ndour leads the league in rebounds
Bold Prediction:  Stevie beats out Bean and has 5 or more double doubles
Not-so Bold Prediction:  Team rebounding will improve massively.  None of the above predictions will occur if they don't
Bold Prediction:  Freshmen will play a large role.  Which excels the most remains to be seen.

Bold Prediction: Hall is the most "variable" player - lotta big games/plays (O & D), interspersed with some clunkers (Fouls out w/only 5 mins on the floor)
Bold Prediction: Stevie will "steal" the show in Columbus Nov 12
Bold Prediction: 'Kron will have a player suspended for the rest of the year (could happen early or later in the year)
Bold Prediction: The chatter on Fiami HawkTalk will trend toward "boy, sure wish we still had Charlie" as the season progresses
Bold Prediction: A MAC ref will have a heart attack on the court due to excessive exertion from whistle blowing
