I think this has been asked and discussed before on this board, but not sure if it's ever been posted. Here is the breakdown of the Dambrot vs. Christian head-to-head:

CHRISTIAN at KENT
'04-'05: Christian 2 wins, Dambrot 0
'05-'06: Split, 1-1
'06-'07: Dambrot 3 wins, Christian 0
'07-'08: Christian 3 wins, Dambrot 0

CHRISTIAN at OHIO
'12-'13: Dambrot 3 wins, Christian 0
'13'-'14: Dambrot 2 wins, Christian 1

So Christian holds an overall record against Dambrot of 7-9, with the better record being at Kent obviously. I don't think there's much to take away from this other than the trend of Akron beating Ohio needs to stop. You could probably argue that once more of Christian's players are in the system, Ohio may start winning more of these games.

We had no answer for Quincy Diggs the last 2 years.  Nobody tall/quick enough to guard him.  And, he could shut down our best player, including DJ Cooper.

Hopefully we can turn the tables on them next year with all the height we are bringing in and the emergence of Campbell.  (That kid must want the season to start tomorrow.  He's coming fast.)  But, we need Willis and Taylor to take better care of the ball.

Would have been nice to see what Ricardo could've done against him.

I'd like to see where Dambrot and Akron are when Diggs, Treadwell and Harney leave.  JC's already had to deal with substantial roster turnover this last year while Dambrot hasn't (OK, Akron lost Zeke Marshall to graduation this past year but IMHO that guy was the most overrated, overhyped player in MAC history).  I think Akron will digress a bit when those guys leave as I see no major Akron recruit who can fill their shoes.  I like what JC's been able to recruit.  Look at Tony Cambell vs. Isaiah Johnson last night.  Johnson was an absolute nonfactor for the Zips while Campbell more than held his own.  I think Ohio wins that contest between those two guys-I'll take Campbell over Johnson any day of the weeek.

I don't understand why Ohio didn't put N'Dour on Diggs. Jon Smith could handle Treadwell like he did at the JAR earlier in the year. Mo's length could have disrupted some of those jump shots and runners in the lane. Personally, I wasn't upset about Diggs last night. I was more upset about Reggie McAdams hitting shots he shouldn't and getting open looks. That stuff can't happen.

If they bring back Abreu they may not have as much of a drop off as we'd like to see.  They'll still have Kretzer and McAdams...but they need someone to distribute to those guys.  I don't see Evans or Betancourt being that guy.  And will Forsythe be enough of a threat down low to keep teams from pressuring the crap out of the three point line and those shooters?

I was also reading last night on Twitter that it's possible Treadwell may be back as well? A loophole in the system even though he missed a year academically?

I must have missed Diggs shutting down DJ.  In the 5 games that DJ and Diggs both played (Diggs was kicked off the team last year) DJ averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds with Ohio winning 4 of the 5.

As for last night, Jim Christian is right. The penalty for finishing 5th is way too severe in comparison to 4th.  By all means give the 1 and 2 seeds a big advantage but there is no reason the 3rd and 4th seeds should have such a huge advantage over the 5th seed.  This is particularly true with an unbalanced schedule.   We can point at the Akron game at the Convo as the reason we didn't get the #4 seed but even with that if we had the opportunity to play Ball State twice instead of Toledo or Western then we are playing our first game since Saturday instead of our 4th game in 6 days.  Again, I'm all for the #1 seed getting a big advantage but the advantage of the 4th place team over the 5th is absurd.

It's not really a loophole so much as it is a design.  He missed a year because he didn't qualify but if he graduates on time, he's earned it.  Good for him.

Agreed that Diggs was a load but Treadwell had his way in the paint the last 10 minutes of the game.

Complaining about the seeding structure--I don't get it.  Everyone knows what it is.  Deal with it.  Or work to change it.

Someone posted in another thread that we need someone who's tough, strong, indeniable...especially at the end of games.  That is extremely true.

We have some good players returning.  I hope that they all take the off season seriously.  (As borna says, players are made from April thru September.)  If guys improve as much next year as they did this year, then seeding will be no problem next year.

Somebody on one of the broadcasts (I think it was Reghi, but I might be mistaken) hinted that Treadwell would have to transfer to another school's grad program if he graduates this year.

Sports Management perhaps - wouldn't that get the Akron fans buzzing.

FWIW Abreu was there last night wearing an Akron Varsity jacket of some sort. He hopped out of his car as I walked out of the Winking Lizard just before tip. I have no doubt he's back on the court next year.

Treadwell can play at Akron next year as long as he graduates in 4 years.  That was the incentive for non qualifiers to work hard and graduate in 4 years.  I believe if he wanted to leave and play at another school he could, but I doubt that he would do such a thing.  As I mentioned in another thread, Dambrot said he would graduate and I think he will be back next year.  They will be tough with only losing Diggs and getting Abreu back.

Doesn't he have a strong dislike for Dambrot?  Or is that just made up in the media?

Overall record is 7-9 vs dumbutt.  One year with three wins and JC has the edge.  I don't see this as any kind of domination.  And, once we get more biggs, and JC will,we will match up with them better.  If I am correct, after this year, Stevie is the only JG kid left.  Things will change soon!

Technically, I think Campbell and Wingfield were originally JG guys and JC kept recruiting them.

In the 6 matchups with Akron in the JC era Ohio has outscored Akron in the 1st half 205-176(+31) but has been outscored by Akron in the 2nd half 188-240(-52).

Ohio's output from 1st to 2nd half in these six games is -17 while Akron's is +64.

We've seen all year how Ohio plays better from behind, we have to do a better job of holding the lead against the Zips and not letting them rally late in the game. Ohio has to play 40 minutes to beat the Zips.

WHOOSH. That went right over my head when I read it this morning. Guess that's what happens when I go on BobcatAttack before my first cup of coffee.

Incredibly well played, 100%Cat.

I had to read it a few times to get it.  You, sir, have won the internet for this week.

I will not dismiss Dambrot and Kron. They will return Kretzer and MacAdams along with Ibitayo, who stepped up in postseason. They have Evans and Betancourt at least with experience and Johnson and Forsythe down low. Cheatham is experienced a little as well. Abreu will screw up the team if he returns and Tree may end up at a bigger program by way of transfer if he can graduate like a lot of guys do now.

As for us, we technically return four starters in Stevie, Bean, Mo and Tony now. Then we have Treg off the bench and I think D.J. really will be something special. He is physically already there at 6-5, 200. Everything points to Rodell being tough and Tariq athletic as heck.

I would be more worried about Kan't with Brewer, Thomas, Simmons, Jackson, Ortiz, Spicer and a new transfer back. But they do have Sendy!
