Is there any credence to the adage that teams who sit longer like Akron has had to will come out flat? I know we came out strong in the semis against Western last year after a week off but then we let them back in it. I don't doubt this team but can we relax now after a tight start to the Fiami game? Keys to the game are holding Diggs down, keeping Tread from being MVP again and pressuring the guards. For us, would like to see Tony step up again and Travis hit big from 3. Love Bean and Nick. I think Bean really just needed to know he can do it. Now that he does it will be scary from here on out.

I really want to beat these guys. Losing this might hurt more than if we would've lost to Miami

Team of destiny. Tons of players rising at the end of the season. Mo seems healthier every game, And maybe Ricardo will even make it if we advance far enough

Last night's game looked like one between two teams playing their third game in five days.  Pretty ragged.  We can't afford a 9+ minute stretch without a FG tonight.

I think there's some validity to the notion that the bye team comes out flat.  They've been playing two games a week for nine weeks then suddenly they sit for five days.  Gets them out of their rhythm.  But it usually doesn't last long so any window of opportunity will be short.

Akron is a veteran team with a coach who gets them to perform and at least one player who takes it personally that Ohio didn't recruit him.  We need to be energetic and smart tonight.

It doesn't matter that Akron has beaten Ohio 4 of the last 5. Or that Ohio expended a ton of energy to beat a scrappy Redhawk team with the worst hairstyling in the Mid American Conference. I should be nice though; there's a retired dentist in Del Boca Vista that would pay top dollar for Jaryd Eustace's mop.

What matters is Thursday night. To play again Friday, the Bobcats must score more points than Akron tonight.

Before the snow started yesterday, I took my dogs, Geno and Dustin, out for a walk. We walk every day that we are able and yesterday could not be an exception. My dogs aren't used to the big city, so they were a little excited by all the activity in the hotel. When I left my room, I turned to make sure the door had locked behind me and the boys took off running down the hall and around the corner. I ran to get them and luckily a nice man standing for an elevator had corralled them by the time I caught up.

I thanked him profusely. He asked me if I always traveled with my dogs and if they were always that fast. I told him yes on both counts. The man said he keeps dachshunds and takes them to Findlay for the races every year. He said that my dogs could probably win the small breed division, because the American Dachshund Racing Federation tries real hard to be inclusive and made a division for any family pet under 15 inches tall. I was captivated by his story of how his dachshunds love the races. But he kept calling them "my bitches", which made me a little uncomfortable.

Then I noticed the man's Akron lapel pin and the bottle of Lipton green tea he was carrying.

I didn't apologize when Dustin lifted his leg on the man's shoe.

In chat last night I asked if there was any chance Rico would play in the MAC Tournament and I got a couple "no's" in the chat but no one elaborated.

On the call-in show Rico said that was his goal. Earlier this week he tweeted that he "ran, jumped, hopped and even dunked" in practice so it is clear he is making progress! I would still imagine playing in practice is a long way from being game ready.

If we do see him, it wouldn't surprise me if Christian keeps it quiet until putting him in. Probably the same if we don't see him. Dress him but have him sit? Have they done that so far?

Couple of random thoughts.

I thought McAdams was out for longer due to Mono? He did play some minutes in their last outing... Fast recovery.
Last 3 games the Zips shot 40%, 60% and 50% from the free throw line... Is that hack a Zip territory? Not sure we would ever play that way but...
I feel like if we can just limit our turnovers we can win this game... No Budda ball. Value our possessions.
Go Bobcats!

P.S. Bean has been coming on as of late. Keep it going!

If Jon Smith continues to slow down Treadwell like he did earlier in the year, Ohio will win this game. And would somebody get a friggin' hand up on Kretzer when he shoots a three???!!!

On paper, Akron should win this game.  They are starting to get healthy, Harney and McAdams are back and Kretzer should be retuning from his concussion.  Ohio meanwhile has many question marks.  Can Stevie play any more on his broken leg?  Can TJ play at all with his bad knees?  Will Wilkins even play, and if he does, how effective can he be with a bad shoulder?  Akron's much healthier and rested than Ohio and their seasoned tourney experience negates any rust they might have entering tonight's game, IMHO.

But, and it's a big Kim Kardashian butt, this game ain't played on paper and Ohio has heart galore!!  Nick is on an absolute roll, Bean seems to have found himself bigtime (me thinks JC knew what he was doing when he brought that guy to Ohio) and if there's any coach who knows how to coach in a MAC tourney game it's JC.  Do not count out these Cats under any circumstances!!

Screw the 'roo!!  GO OHIO!!!

Yeah, McAdams came back quicker than I expected also. He played only 13 and 15 minutes the last two games, but he shot the ball well.

And yes, Akron is a terrible free throw shooting team. Most of their regulars are around 60 percent and Ibitayo has been really bad, especially for a guy who has shot the 3-pointer pretty well.

I've been thinking if I was a coach going up against Akron how I would defend Treadwell.

I think I would put a bug in the refs' ears to watch how he lowers his shoulders into the defender and instruct my big men to stand their ground and allow Treadwell to run them over, hoping to get a charge call. Easier said then done, but a player should not be allowed to bull over defenders to get to the hoop.

I love his toughness and energy and would love to have him on my team. But I think he gets away with too much with the ball down low.

Alright, off my soap box. Go BOBCATS!!!!!!!

After the home game in January, I was talking with Ryan McFann (Convo equipment director) and he said he'd rather see Ohio lose by 100 to Ohio State than by 1 to Akron

I thought the same thing this year (and in past years) watching McCrea from Buffalo.  There were several times he was blowing into people and/or arm-barring them, clearing out his way to the rim, with no calls.  It's still amazing to me watching how basketball is called by refs...ticky tack fouls and hand checks on the perimeter you can't get away with.  But, if you want to throw elbows, sling guys out of your way, or give kidney shots in the paint, feel free.

Considering the amount of fouls called last night in the first half vs. Fiami.......MAYBE Treadwell won't be able to get away with that tonight.  Campbell & Setty need to be ready to play some big-boy basketball tonight.  Smith and N'dour need to play with an edge in the post too.  Have to rebound much better than we did against Fiami (who is an awufl rebounding team).....can't allow Zips to kill us on offensive glass like last two games (24 off. rebs allowed vs. BSU/MU)

Again...hit some threes....take advantage of FTs......and just BOX OUT!!!!

Cats are building momentum.....feel good about tonight!

If it pleases the Bobcats I would like to request temporay citizenship.  I can only think of one thing that would make me happier than OU beating CrAkron tonight and it's not going to happen.  I will not be at the Q, but will be sporting green and cheering loudly for JC and the boys to take down the mighty Zits.

Go Bobcats!

You got it.  In our 2OT loss to Akron in January they out-rebbed us 45-33, with 17 of their rebs on offense.  When we beat them last month, it was a lot closer -- 37-32 but they still had 18 offensive boards.  Time to man up and attack the glass.

Obviously you don't want him risking further injury.
