I highly doubt Akron gets in over us. Our resume is without question stronger than their resume. Their only argument is really that they beat us head-to-head this year 2 to 1. Beyond that, we have everything going in our favor against them. Had they beat WMU, they'd have a better chance.

Overall, all these NIT auto-bids have really hurt our chances. Rough life this NIT bracketology is.

The interesting scenario develops if all the experts are wrong and Toledo swings an at-large to the big dance. WMU and Toledo to the NCAA's and no MAC rep to the NIT? Darn?

Huh?  They beat us twice and had a better conference record.  There really isn't anything else that really matters in terms of who "deserves" to go.  As far as the MAC goes this year and last, they are the better team.

Huh? OOC play doesn't matter?

Akron beat us 2-1 (like I said) and they also did have a slightly better conference record although we did play a tougher in-conference schedule. Is that 2-1 split considering their tournament bye and 1 game regular season conference lead enough for Akron to make up their deficit in computer rankings, lack of quality wins and a worse overall record? I find that extremely doubtful.

Let me put it this way, if Ohio and Akron both made the same tournament we would be seeded multiple spots ahead of Akron.

Toledo isn't getting an at-large. Let it go.

Didn't the Lady Rockets market well and sell out at least the WNIT title tilt? Very nice facility and I think they'd pull out the stops to fill up the arena if they get a home game.

Not only does the final bracket matrix not have us in the NIT. They don't even have us in the list of 10 other schools who were under consideration for it.

CBI looking more and more probable.

NYBuckets had us as a "notable" team left off. But I think we're not really that close to getting in. CBI is still my call. That's fine, as it's probably going to be the strongest field the tournament's had.

NYBuckets seems to be a Bobcat at heart.

I think we miss the NIT. Bubble really got smaller in the last two days, unfortunately. I know nothing about whether we would prefer the CIT or CBI.

We are about to see if more than one MAC Team will be in the NIT.

Toledo gets a 6 seed and plays at Southern Miss. Safe to say we're a one-bid conference in the NIT.

Seems fair to me.  I know it's not the end-all for rankings but it is a ranking nonetheless-Sagarin has Ohio listed as 107th right now, which would not put Ohio in the NIT (if one assumes the NIT generally tries to take teams ranked 69th through 100).

CBI, CIT, it's all good!  Now to watch a new Walking Dead episode on TV..........

In practice they'd be taking teams 50ish through 95ish, since teams 1-68 do NOT all make the NCAAs, due to some of the auto-bid teams being quite poorly ranked.

Probably should just let this die, but JC didn't with his comments on tonight's call in show regarding last years teams mindset in the NIT.  His words and Arkley's article, not mine, but this is the kind of stuff the fans have been fed and hence the reason for some of the opinions:

----------------

"Getting players to understand that is the challenge Ohio, and nearly every team not in the NCAA, will have this week. The Bobcats had four seniors in 2013 finish their college careers with a lack-luster performance at Denver in the first-round of the NIT. Ohio was in the NCAA’s Sweet 16 the year before.

“We had some guys disappointed to play in the NIT,” Christian said. “Trust me, I’ve heard from every one of them that wishes they could change it — their mentality. None of them viewed it as a reward for having a great year and to be considered as one of the top 100 teams in the country."

Interesting watching these games. CLemson, Ga State, Georgetown all playing in gyms smaller than 70 per cent of the HS gyms here in IN. 2600 SRO fans packed into McDonough to see Huggys WVA team get splattered by GTown.

Illinois heading off to Boston U. Another little Gym packing them in....interesting twist to the NIT. Intimacy is the new full house.

I still say that is a way of calling out Walt without naming him.  My main point is the game did not look at all like we rolled over and didn't care to me.  We played a good red hot team on the road (in the high altitude even!) and nearly won.

It's a shame that Georgetown can't figure out a way to build a reasonably sized arena on campus, or at least a lot closer.  McDonough is a great place to watch a game though and the energy is ten times better than the Verizon Center.
