If you transfer to a school you have to sit out a year.  Unless you have a redshirt available, that counts against your eligibility.  Are you trying to say it doesn't?  Or are we talking about 2 different issues?

You have to sit a year in those 4 sports. You do not lose a year of eligibility. YOu still get 4 years to play. If you have an injury at your new school you may get another year. I know of guys who have been playing 6 years out from HS.

EDIT I did not think about the redshirt being used. Sorry. This transfer pdf makes it more confusing by talking about the 5 year clock....yet i know of guys with a redshirt transfer and then an injury

Ya so that is my issue.

Year 1: School A. Redshirt
Year 2. School A. Play. Coach leaves. Transfer.
Year 3. Transfer and sit out
Year 4. Play
Year 5. Play

That is my issue with sitting out a year.  It doesn't typically hurt basketball players as much because there tends to be less redshirts.  Football transfers get crushed by this.

Based on this, you've only used 3 years of eligibility (Years 2, 4, 5) so you should be eligible to play in Year 6.

Can you confirm that?  I am fairly certain, that year 3 would count as a year of eligibility?

You are correct, year 3 does count. Essentially, most transfers use the year of sitting out as their "redshirt" year. It's rare a kid will use his redshirt and then also transfer, because they will lose that year. There are some loopholes to get the 6th year, but that's tough to come by unless there was an injury.

Trevor Mbakwe was a good loophole example.

Came out of HS with Devo, Tommy and MoPears. Still playing last year and Big ten announcers were lauding him as a man among boys....weellllll....duh. He is a man...with a kid and a heck of a lot of his peers (Love , Mayo, Beasley, Gordon teague, Harden, Griffin, Turner Blair ) are multi year pros, in real jobs or overseas a couple of years.

This is how 6 years looks on paper. This would be the same if a kid transferred and sat due to a coach leaving and added an injury. Not sure how it works if the injury comes before the transfer.

Nice

He really is a good guy. Kids going through under him take away a lot of life lessons.

When they were leaving Athens, they donated a good number of things to the Good Works Timothy House. I thought that was a nice gesture.

Eeeked a win out on the road. Love the GIFS

SFA /Asshall is under construction so they are on the road the entire tourney. Clemson next ...Boston shot the lights out and Illinii were behind most of the gmae by 7-`11 points.

Love the comments on their board

Simply put winning beats losing any day of the week.  This gets the freshmen a couple more practices and a little more experience.  All this is building for next year and hopefully our return to the real tournament.   :chief:

One poster acknowledged that this is why you do not schedule mid majors, especially on the road..... Too easy to lose he said.

i've never been sold on Groce as an in-game coach but this combined with increasing recruiting misses is getting old. How many more years of being the worst offensive team in D1 do we have to endure?

This season is over. Don't need to watch this garbage anymore.
