Unless they is some "outstanding" financial advantage to OU, why is OU competing in this tournament?

Why so negative? What do we have to lose? I'm sure things were weighed out, players opinions were taken.  I could see several reasons.

1. Players wanted to play. Tight knit group.
2. Develop younger players, put them in pressure type situations.
3. If we win, it's another trophy for the room. Albeit not the NCAA trophy.
4. Coach's way around limitations on practice/development time.
5. Overall appearance time. Any appearance time for our school in a spot to shine is good in my opinion.

Those are just a couple of reasons. Don't be so negative because we didn't achieve the mass success you wanted.

There is a line item expense in the ICA budget for both FB and BB postseason play.

Because they are a basketball team and basketball teams play basketball.
Because the team wants to play (or at least 99% do)
Because it doesn't matter what the fans want.  News flash.  It is not about what the fans want or think.  It has never been about what the fans want or think.  It will never be about what the fans want or think.

Bottom line.  They are basketball players.  And players play.

Stevie said it best.  It's for the seniors.

Bob, I'm going to put the burden of proof back on you. Why should OU NOT compete in this tournament?

Or what the superstars want or think. They decide who the coach is And who else is on the team. They should put on the tickets for entertainment purposes only

Because it's basketball Bob. Basketball players like to play basketball. The experience and confidence Tony Campbell is gaining from these games is huge.

Why wouldn't you play?

I am on the fence about the CIT/CBI beaing meaningful, but went to last night's game anyway.  It was entertaining, so I consider it time and money well spent.  I think the fans easily got $10 worth of entertainment.  If the season was over with no post-season appearance, I would have been fine with that, too.  I enjoy watching the games, the team (at least 93% of the roster) enjoys playing and the university doesn't appear to be losing money on the games.

The opportunity to develop young players is another good reason to play.  Tony Campbell had a fantastic game last night.  That should give him a big boost in confidence heading into next year.  I'm not bitter about fans that either don't care or are simply fatigued at this point of the season.  I'm still having a little fun watching hoops while I anxiously wait for Spring to arrive.

Bob Gross;   Please see all the above reasons for playing in this tourney.  If you could have been in the Convo last night and seen our team suck it up and beat a very competitive Cleveland State team then you would not have been asking this stupid question.

The answer is simple. The more complex question would be, why was this thread started? Obviously by someone with an agenda.

Not only that but to see the reaction on the players faces when Jon Harris' shot missed.  That was a happy bunch of guys.

Actually, and this is true even though I'm making it up and it's entirely irrational, there was no 'plan' to play in the CIT. The coaches and players just happened to be in The Convo when an opponent, referees and fans showed up.  So, they decided to have a game.  The players were planning to gather to build a 27 story skyscraper on the East Green but no one remembered to bring a crane, so that plan had to be abandoned.

Here's a Bob Gross post from just over a month ago after the Kent game.  Guess he missed the part about our injuries this year. And failed to see how much we got out of a injured team.

I was highly critical of JC's hire a few years ago and I am still not on board with his coaching ability. He is not a game coach and does not change up a game plan when it is not working.
Time for a change!

So he wants a change when we've won 24 games .......

Not only that but this is a fantastic whiff.  How many comeback wins did we have this year?

Story doesn't work, there's actually a crane right between East and South greens right now

That's why to me, although this (CIT) isn't what the team and JC had as goals last fall, what they've accomplished in the face of so much adversity (i.e. injuries) is amazing.  What happened with injuries we can't change. But if Ric hadn't gone down at Asheville and Stevie doesn't get hurt who knows what we'd have accomplished. And that's not to ignore Mo's back and TJ's chronic issues with injuries.  26 - 5  might have been the outcome ... but through it all the players never quit and JC got as much mileage out of what he had to work with as any coach could have IMO.

OHIO will have a pre-game story and post game story on all the Columbus, Dayton, and other cities across Ohio, print, radio, and TV sports sections/reports this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

tO$U (and UC, UT, 'Kron, Cleve St,) will not..................

Maybe a few more games and more media/free exposure as well!
