I am starting to believe we can! We've won two games against two very good teams without Nick doing much at all. Nick and Travis with 6 total points and 0 for 3 from 3-point range? I just love this team. Love Wadley coming in. Love Stevie looking strong. Love Treg and Tony improving and love Bean coming into his own. If we had Bean like this early in the season we're a top seed in MAC. But I will take this. 25 wins for this team with no Rico, no Jon, hurt TJ, hurt Mo, hurt Stevie...WOW!

Without Nick AND Maurice doing too much. And Jon gone. And Stevie hurt. And TJ not at 100%.

This tourney is about Bean and Campbell getting experience and confidence for next season.

Jim C said after the game that Travis has not been practicing and is hurting. Amazing they can keep it together

Roster break down-

Starters-
Taylor- broken leg
Kellogg- scoring funk
Johnson- broken leg
NDour- bad back
Smith- quit

Bench-
Hall- two bad knees
Wilkins- bad shoulder
Willis- stepping up
Setty- stepping up
Campbell- stepping up
Monpremier- stepping up

we're down to a walk on and a couple of redshirts, and we're going to win it all. somehow.

Good point Perimeterpost.  Notice that all the players you note are stepping up are all players JC brought in?  Another thread subject is an apology to Bean, who JC brought in.  With these guys he 's already doubled his number of postseason career wins.  Me thinks JC knows what he's doing.  Keep it up Cats!

I think we can. Tony and Bean have really stepped it up lately. If they keep that up, we have a real shot at taking it. On paper we are the best team left in the field.

So glad I took the time to make the game today, I like how this team is battling. Setty is a spaz, but he's a good spaz, so active and brings so much youthful exhubrrence, glad to see him and Campbell getting minutes. Also great seeing Bean be a factor on offense.

I would be interested to see how we would do against VMI. They put up 100 against IPFWM-Z12F6 (not sure the exact abbreviation). I think that would be a game that Nick would TRULY GO OFF! And our MVP of the season is Travis. Does all of the little things and is a great guy. gonna miss him.

And I hate to point out again because we're in the moment but because of injuries, we are returning four starters now next year with Bean, Stevie, Mo and Tony with a great sixth man in Treg. I think D.J. will be very good and am glad he redshirted. If 2 of the newcomers can play (and I think all four will make an impact) we will be VERY VERY VERY good.

I love Wilkins but don't get too excited: Nick is our MVP this year.

We couldn't get the O going today.  Some of it had to be with the guys/combo's of guys who we had on the floor today.  Kinda weird at times...I think that Wadley and Setty were our two bigs at one point.  Was JC trying to get experience for guys while knowing that we had what it took to win and advance so we can keep playing, keep getting guys more experience?  Or was it injuries?

well, true that the players that are stepping up are all JC's but I wouldn't expect any of Groce's recruits to be 8-12 on the depth chart either.

I dont want VMI. Our team is thin right now and VMI is up tempo and can tire you out. It would be a tough matchup.

Murray State would be interesting but they play Monday. Holy Cross?

Yes, we can win this thing!!!  The boys have already POUNDED out wins against two of the better teams in the field.
Additionally, it appears we have a lot of talent coming into next season.

What I love most about this team is that what they are doing goes beyond basketball.

These kids are battling right now like soldiers or warriors.

Win or lose the CIT I am very excited about next season and I am very proud about what this team has accomplished this season.

It was Campbell with early foul trouble. He and Pacher were in a very physical battle a lot of the early first half.

Health is such a barometer for us.  The healthier guys are, the much more I like our chances.

If we win out, I think that would give this Senior class 100 wins at Ohio! That's quite an accomplishment!

We are "soldiers and warriors"? You need a reality check. It's only a basketball game.

(rolls eyes) You cannot seriously have taken that to its literal extreme.

JSF--I may be extreme here but it occurs:  There may be some here who aren't capable of complex thought, of anything beyond the literal and simple.  Some who have no sense of humor, who are not open to considering new points of view, who have little familiarity with the art of speech and reasoning.

I know this news will shock you.

If you've ever watched 30 ROCK then you are likely familiar with Tracy Jordan's quest for an EGOT- one each of an Emmy, Golden Globe, Oscar and Tony. I think we should look at the 4 basketball tournaments the same way- let's win all of them at least once.

I think that's good motivation, let's win the CIT this year and we'll never have to play in this tournament ever again. We'll be one step closer to earning the first ever CITCBINITNCAA.

This would be quite the accomplishment. It could only be done by a mid-major since major conference schools do not compete in the CIT.

Santa Clara has a jump on us as they have already won the CIT (2011) and the CBI (2013).

Tulsa also has a good head start as they have won the NIT (1981, 2001) and the CBI  (2008).

Wyoming and Holy Cross would be other options since they already have the NCAA championship taken care of.

But the favorite might be San Francisco, since they have NCAA titles (1955, 1956) and an NIT title (1949) already.
