Wow, may have been a good season overall for the MAC but, seriously, not one team in the Top 100 in the latest Sagrins.  You call it parity?  I'd say mediocrity.

It may be fair to call it mediocrity but it's less mediocre than it has been in quite a few years.

Statistically it might be mediocre but the product on the court passes my eye-test.  This is the best the league has been in quite some time.  The conference overall took a huge step forward this year.  We are down to two coaches that need to be jettisoned (one of whom most certainly coached his last game last night) and that's a far cry from the 6 or 7 that needed to go just a couple of seasons ago.

Ted's update today is a great example of "RPI drag" where BEATING a team actually hurts your RPI rating.

We were 81, play (and beat) Ball State (near 300) and we drop four spots to 85. This is where the MAC not having many teams near 300 is big for the conference overall.

On the court and by the numbers, this was a good year for the MAC.

Bonus excitement: IMHO, the incoming recruiting class for the MAC as a whole is the best in a decade. Ohio, Buffalo, Miami, Ball State and Toledo all earn my special recognition.

Just reflecting on the Pomeroy numbers... Before MAC play we were, (Just going from memory) 130ish on offense and 40ish on defense... We finished up 118 on offense and 148 on D... While we were able to insert some 3 pt shooting into our O, our defense really sank. Disappointed by our bad luck but, not by our effort, of course.
Considering the height, length and athleticism coming in next year, I would expect our D to pick up right back where it left off during the early part of this last season. Offensively, I have no idea where we will get our 3 pt shooting from... Stevie, Bean, Harley and Crute maybe?

We really don't seem to have a defense.

I think this really shows how badly losing Ric hurt us.

As for next year, I think defensively we could be VERY good. If Tariq is the shot blocker he appears to be pairing him with NDOUR could be nasty. #swatcity

Hopefully Bean keeps shooting like he has been from 3. He does that, and we really have something. As for the incoming wings, I think the best shooter is clearly Crute. I've heard Harley is good shooting but I'm not sure his range is quite 3-point.. Wigginton and Wingfield both seem to be slashers over shooters. Morillo-Lajara has been described as a good 3-point shooter but his numbers haven't been great this year.

I piss on your discussion of RPI, Sagarin.  Except as it affects the Ohio.  Ohio, Ohio and Ohio.

The top part of the MAC is decent enough hoop.  There are certainly some weak sisters at the MAC bottom.  So, there's only so much we can do in MAC to 'up' our rankings and, more importantly, the level at which we play.

So, I want us to play the toughest OOC schedule possible.  I don't care if almost every game has to be away (though hope we get some home backs in subsequent years).  Let's play Pitt and Washington and NDame and NCState and Florida and Iowa, etc.  I know that's rather a pipe dream.  But I wanna see such as Mo and Campbell etc, etc get used to playing at that level. By dint of playing the very best comp during the year, I wanna see us poppin' come the post-season.

Your overall post was fine, but that first paragraph is pretty disrespectful of others and childish.

The CIT is a strange tournament.  The further along we advance the lower our Sagarin ranking goes.
