I was delighted to view a short film last night about Dr. E.B. Henderson -- known as the "grandfather of black basketball" who was enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013. Dr. Henderson has long been known in the African American community and in D.C./Northern Virginia for what he did in regards to civil rights, education, wellness and athletics. Much of his work was done out of the spotlight and the ripple effect has cascaded well beyond those who knew him. This is something that fascinates me about America -- people many don't know who have a lasting impact on our nation.
The film was produced by GVI. The director is good friend and fellow Bobcat alum Bob Burnett. I talked with Bob during production and I know this is a project he truly enjoyed working on and a story that he finds important to share. Following is a link to the feature:
