Simple enough.

Walked past University bookstore today and his banner in the window was taken down.

Is that really indicative of anything though? I mean, the season did just end. Does Frank have a poster up?

It isn't indicative of anything, I agree. I believe Christian's poster has been up all school year and the same with Frank (I believe his is on the W. Union side).

But this doesn't mean anything, really.

He's 100% gone. It was over when he talked to Owens from Boston and Owens turned around and asked to be released from Ohio. Would JC have let that happen if he wasn't leaving? c'mon, Owens was locked down air tight.

All that's left is a quick players meeting followed by a stop off at UHaul to get some boxes.

He takes the BC job.
He takes any equity from his Athens residence, let's guess $75K and puts it down as a down payment for one of these 62 gems available in the Chesnut Hill area.

http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-search/02467/sby-1?pgsz=50

He signs off on a ridiculous mortgage and is roundly criticized by we midwest rubes for his lack of personal financial acumen.

Oh, and in 4 years he is filling out applications for open 2nd assistant coach jobs at a variety of mid major colleges.

Mark it down.

I think he stays at Ohio. I don't quite understand the uproar over the idea of him leaving. If he stays good, if not good because we can get somebody impressive in here. We have the miracle AD Jim Schaus.

I'm with perimeter. Hell, for all we know Owens is joining him at BC.

Except that in retrospect Jim S. got played by Christian 2 years ago.  I think we all were led to believe this was a guy who was committed to building something long term here. That move would appear to be a net negative for us overall.

I gotta agree with you, SBH.  Not that I thought JC would be here 10 years as that just doesn't happen anymore, but from the way JC spoke at his first press conference, it would've been reasonable to think he'd at least stick around long enough to see his first recruiting class graduate.

Edit:  I miss Groce.  Sigh.........

Okay .. for all those that think JC has slighted us .... if he leaves it will hurt the program but life goes on and there's nothing to be done except find a solid replacement if it comes to that.

That said, ask yourself, whether you make $50K or $100K or whatever .... maybe you just started a job recently at that salary and you like the company you work for. Along comes a headhunter ... he says "I have a job that can double or triple your total compensation, are you interested?" I'd bet that 100% of the people here would both listen to the headhunter and strongly consider the opportunity. Sorry, guys but whether you're in the corporate world or athletics there is very little allegiance to the long term. We don't have Jim Snyder types out there these days.

Well, there are some guys on the Illinois board that want to fire JG.  Probably won't happen for at least another two years, by that time we'll probably be looking for our third coach in four years, so things could work out.

I don't miss him as much as I miss the direction of the program.

The guys on the illini board backed off a lot by the end of the season when the losing streak became a memory....and the NIT run showed how bare the cupboard was when Bruce left so calmer heads  are prevailing and folks understand the process of rebuilding....and are infinitely more understanding than the IU fans that are a year out of a Big Ten title and a deep tourney run who want CLappy the Tan Clown gone.

He didn't get us into the NCAA's. Couldn't do it with a loaded team the year before. Its time to get a coach in here that can bring a 5 star point guard with him to Athens. Make a 5 star PG in the pipeline a condition of unemployment.
