After last night I have to ask how many people agree or disagree...
Longtime coach Kevin Stallings allegedly once said "don't kid yourselves, they (the refs) know who is supposed to win."
That would be the Stallings who had coaching stops at Purdue. Kansas, Illinois State, Vanderbilt, Pitt and had 479 wins as a head coach. Coached as HC in 15 big dance games, 15 NIT games, was coach of the year in the MVC and twice in the SEC.
Agree or disagree about the refs?
This is akin to all these conspiracy folks trying to claim NFL games are scripted. Silly and ridiculous, NCAA officials are going through weekly FBI checks, and their bank accounts are monitored. These guys go through daily financial scrutiny.
Stallings didn't say they were "on the take" - he just said they were aware of who was "supposed to win."
On the other hand, the Bobby Riggs - Billy Jean King thing at the Astrodome? The UCLA upset over Artis Gilmore's team in the final four the year between Alcindor and Walton when UCLA didn't have a good center? Hmmmm....
